Job Description Job Opportunity: Internal Medicine / Pediatric Hospitalist – Main CampusWe are thrilled to present a distinctive opportunity for Med-Peds hospitalists who are eager to pursue a career in academic hospital medicine. This role allows for a flexible combination of responsibilities on both the Med-Peds Consult Service and the pediatric hospital medicine teams, enabling candidates to customize their service distribution according to their personal interests and career aspirations. As we expand our clinical offerings and enhance our academic objectives, we are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about utilizing their dual training to provide care for patients spanning the pediatric to adult age range.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver internal medicine expertise for hospitalized adult patients within a pediatric environment, collaborating closely with medical and surgical specialists.Facilitate the transition of suitable patients to adult healthcare providers, offering resources and support.Engage in direct patient care while also participating in the development and leadership of institution-wide adult transition programs and the Med-Peds residency program.Integrate dual training into innovative, age-appropriate inpatient care models.Position OverviewThe Med-Peds Consult Service operates at our main campus and is part of the Division of Hospital Medicine, which comprises over 70 faculty members across three locations. This division fosters a diverse range of clinical, educational, quality improvement, and research interests. We are currently focused on recruiting for a hospitalist position at our main campus, welcoming applications for both full-time and part-time roles.About Our InstitutionOur organization is a standalone children's hospital featuring a level 1 trauma center and comprehensive subspecialty care. We proudly host an established, ACGME-accredited two-year pediatric hospitalist fellowship program with six fellows and play a vital role in the medical education of both our pediatric residency program and the University of Arizona Med-Peds residency program. Our faculty members hold academic positions at the University of Arizona, Creighton University, and the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine.Who We Are Looking ForWe invite enthusiastic and collaborative Med-Peds providers to join our Division of Hospital Medicine and contribute to the evolution of Med-Peds care and education within a vibrant academic setting. This role is particularly suited for Med-Peds physicians who are passionate about bridging pediatric and adult inpatient medicine, offering both meaningful and professionally fulfilling experiences.QualificationsMust be board eligible or certified in both general pediatrics and internal medicine.Core ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive patient care services, aligning with our mission to deliver hope, healing, and exceptional healthcare for children and their families.Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic services and procedures, including urgent and emergent care as necessary.Aim for optimal patient and family-centered care while supporting hospital and division-specific patient satisfaction goals.Adhere to divisional standards for patient safety and quality of care, practicing contemporary evidence-based medicine.Divisional ResponsibilitiesWork towards achieving annual goals and objectives for the individual, division, and hospital.Support medical education initiatives, including supervising trainees and allied health professionals in both inpatient and outpatient settings.Conduct teaching rounds, lectures, and conferences for trainees.Participate in postgraduate continuing education activities within the division.Contribute to the division's research efforts and support programmatic growth.Assist with satellite initiatives of the division when appropriate.Professional ConductTreat colleagues, staff, and patients with respect, dignity, and courtesy.Foster a safe, collaborative, and professional healthcare environment.Uphold the organization's mission, vision, and values, emphasizing family-centered care, clinical excellence, leadership, collaboration, and accountability.Additional ActivitiesSupport the Division Chief in liaising with the professional community and the public as needed.Conduct teaching rounds or conferences outside the organization to enhance divisional clinical and educational programs.Represent the organization in medical and business communities in a professional manner.Essential SkillsAbility to communicate effectively via telephone, computer, or other communication devices.Willingness to perform after-hours or night call responsibilities as required.Capability to maintain a regular work schedule.
