Manager, Survey Engineering (hybrid schedule)

Leads all survey engineering activities and ensures projects undertaken are in accordance with overall System Real Estate (SRE) departmental goals and objectives.Essential Functions: Oversees approved projects; facilitates resolution of issues and scheduling impactsResponsible for budgets; monitors variances and provides detail as neededProvides cost estimates to appropriate personnel as requiredOversees the survey process, ensuring that all requests and surveys are in compliance with all relevant Eversource standards and practices.Acts as an expert witness in a court of law involving land surveys as requiredCoordinates surveying activities with other system departments, outside contractors, other surveyors, lawyers, municipal and state personnel, etc.Certifies land survey maps as requiredRecommends, develops and implements surveying procedures, standards, and methodsParticipates in the development and implementation of real estate technical services procedures, standards, and methodsEnsures that all surveying instruments, tools and equipment are appropriately maintained; makes recommendation for updated surveying instruments, tools, and equipmentAllocate resources to provide survey support to other areas as neededTechnical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:Technical Knowledge/Skill: Highly effective communication, negotiation and customer service skillsAbility to professionally and positively represent the company in successfully addressing and resolving complex landowner issues and land use conflictsHighly effective at cross collaboration, initiative, building and maintaining positive relationships with federal, state and local agenciesAble to effectively manage multiple and shifting projects and prioritiesDemonstrated ability to work independently, confidently and decisivelyHighly effective at working collaboratively with project teams to advance work, meet timelines, and manage and resolve project issuesThorough knowledge of land, engineering, and construction surveying; mapping, legal documents, real estate terminology, etc.Thorough knowledge of CT & MA statutes and regulations governing surveying and mapping activities.Knowledge of state-of-the-art surveying techniques.Demonstrated ability to analyze deeds, title abstracts, and other related data, and make decisions and recommendations accordingly.Ability to establish and maintain tactful relations with property owners and the general public.Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of the organization and with counterparts in outside organizations.Education: High school or trade school diploma with specialization in mathematics/ surveying or the equivalent plus two years of related formal technical training or the equivalent. Experience: Minimum ten (10) years of related experience; at least 3 years at the supervisory levelLicenses & Certifications: Requires a valid driver’s licenseWorking Conditions: Frequent outdoor work in all weather conditions required; including walking and viewing sitesMust be available to work emergency storm assignment as required.Frequent travel between sites in MA/CT/NH.Mental Aspects:Work involves calculating, comparing, technical writing, planning, evaluating, interpreting, organizing, consulting, analyzing, documenting, coordinating, implementing and presenting.
