Accounting Controller

*Position Overview*
We are looking for an experienced candidate who thrives on leading a team, who is highly capable of managing the general ledger and completing the month-end close and who is not only curious but driven to improve processes and systems. The ideal candidate will ensure the integrity of our financial data and demonstrate the ability to execute the accounting cycle and workflow. As a key member of our team, you will work directly with the executive leadership team and cross-functionally with operations, procurement and project management to provide deep financial insights that guide business decisions.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Manage all accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll.
* Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate transactions.
* Maintain progress billings, track project costs and retainage as well as other construction accounting related functions.
* Prepare and publish timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
* Establish, implement, and enforce internal controls and safeguards over company revenue, costs, and assets.
* Monitor cash position, forecasting needs and evaluating trends to flag potential capital conditions.
* Coordinate and lead annual financial and compliance audits with external teams.
* Manage local, state, and federal tax compliance, ensuring all filings are accurate and submitted on time.
* Collaborate with the executive team to develop and administer the annual budget and planning processes.
* Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise the accounting and finance team.
* Evaluate current accounting procedures and software to recommend and implement process improvements.
*Qualifications & Skills*
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or Finance.
* Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred but not required, especially with the right experience.
* Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience. Experience in commercial construction accounting preferred.
* Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with modern ERP/accounting software (e.g., Sage, UKG).
* Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical abilities, high attention to detail, and excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders. Ability to maintain composure under pressure and willingness to collaborate with executive management, and all team members.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
