Job Description
Own the flow from quote to shipment At O'Neal Steel in Mobile, AL, you'll be the go-to connector who turns customer prints into shipped product. As our Processing & Programming expert on site, your day moves from analyzing drawings, crafting accurate quotes with sales, programming nests for maximum yield, and walking the shop floor to verify quality and schedule—all the way through on-time delivery.A day in the life Start by reviewing customer prints to determine methods, machine time, costs, and lead times.Consult with inside sales to build precise, profitable quotes for processed work.Program plasma/oxyfuel/laser equipment and optimize nesting strategies to boost yield and throughput.Troubleshoot programs and machine issues to keep jobs moving.Check tolerances, monitor job flow, and validate quality as parts run.Coordinate with operations, vendors, and sales so production stays aligned with delivery commitments.Expedite and resolve roadblocks that could impact production or shipment.Spot and implement improvements that increase machine utilization, reduce scrap, and elevate efficiency.Champion and follow all safety policies and procedures on the processing floor.What you bring High school diploma.Ability to read and interpret blueprints.Programming experience with plasma/oxyfuel/laser preferred.Hands-on experience with CAD/nesting tools such as SigmaNEST, ProNest, or AutoCAD.Background in manufacturing or steel processing.Strong problem-solver and clear communicator (written and verbal).Comfort collaborating across sales, operations, vendors, and other departments.Proficiency in CAD software, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), measuring and quoting, and supporting inside sales.How success is measured Safety first—always.Quotes that are both accurate and profitable.Programs that run cleanly with minimal rework.Seamless flow from quote → programming → production → shipment.Lead times met consistently (3–5 days where applicable).Higher machine utilization and lower scrap.Schedule Must be able to work 1st shift (8:00AM–5:00PM) Monday–Friday.
