Sr. Data Architect
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
General description of main/primary duties and responsibilities of the job, aptitude, level of complexity, span of control, autonomy, decision making and judgement. It is central and necessary to the satisfactory performance of the job. Includes the following and other duties as assigned.
Under limited supervision, this position will:
Be responsible for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of data solutions based on business needs. Ensure standards, patterns and practices support and comply with internal IT processes, security policies and controls established for in-scope SOX information systems.
Partner with the business data stewards and the enterprise data stewardship team to establish and maintain enterprise data definitions and governance programs.
Provide solution documentation for architecture and technical details, covering solution design, implementation and usage; includes internally developed and vendor/commercial solutions.
Perform code reviews of data solutions developed by internal, contract/consultant and commercial developers, to ensure adherence and alignment with established data architectural and security standards, patterns and practices.
Partner with project and leadership teams, both business and information technology, driving towards the successful completion of joint initiatives. Collaborate with project management, business analyst, and business subject matter expert teams to translate business requirements into technical designs for data solutions and systems.
Evaluate contractors work production to ensure compliance with quality and service standards.
Observe and evaluate the selection of commercial data solutions and applications, providing technical guidance and expertise to internal decision makers and external solution teams.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience, Licensure (minimum level required)
High School Diploma or equivalent.
At least ten (10) years of relevant Information Technology experience.
At least eight (8) years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server and related technologies as a proficient/higher level architect, developer, engineer or administrator.
Demonstrated expert level experience with the following:
Server Integration Services (SIS) development and support
Common IDE’s (e.g. Visual Studio, VS Code, PyCharm, etc.)
PowerShell for database and system administration
Version control systems (e.g. Git/GitHub, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, etc.)
Experience managing multiple competing priorities for projects, incident responses, development requests, etc.
CORE COMPETENCIES
List and describe the required factors (i.e. knowledge, skills, abilities, software programs, equipment, competencies), that are needed for this role. Indicate the level of proficiency/expertise for each when possible.
Demonstrated expertise in database design with emphasis on Enterprise Data and Enterprise Data Warehousing.
Knowledge and experience designing solutions for relational data with the proven ability to incorporate non- or partially-relational data into relational data paradigms.
Certification-level expert in Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL development with emphasis on declarative set-based programming techniques, performance tuning & optimizations, and industry standards.
Strong working knowledge of IT policies, processes, procedures and standards. Includes software testing and acceptance practices.
Able to use SSIS, Python, Alteryx or other toolsets to access and read data from various external sources (e.g. API, file, screen scraping, SOAP and REST APIs etc.).
Project management methodologies such as Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, etc.
Demonstrate consistent, logical and rational approach to issues.
Behave in accordance with rules of conduct and a good work ethic.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on both formal and informal styles at all levels in the organization.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities.

Office Related:
Job is primarily performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires regular use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system.

HOURS / SHIFTS
Regular business hours.
Available for responsibilities on weekends and holidays for urgent issues or emergencies during off hours, as needed.

Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
Minimally lift, push, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Minimally be able to bend, stoop, crouch, etc.
TRAVEL
Approximate amount of time.
Minimal travel may be required to other locations.
