This individual will architect and evolve container technologies including Kubernetes, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and related cloud-native tools to develop enterprise-grade frameworks and drive adoption across all IT portfolios company-wide. The ideal candidate brings the ability to adapt and evolve with the technology landscape complementing core platform engineering expertise with working knowledge of software engineering, cloud-native architecture, and GenAI-enabled tooling as force multipliers for platform capability and developer experience. Key to this position is critical thinking, technology awareness, market research, open-source mindset and communication to influence Technology direction with development teams.The Senior Staff Engineer Cloud position can be located in Plano, TX or Pleasanton, CA.Main ResponsibilitiesArchitect, design, implement, test, and maintain enterprise grade container platforms including Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS) and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).Ensure accessibility, security, reliability, high availability, and performance of cloud infrastructure and platform services across multi-cloud environments.Lead the design and evolution of Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) - including self-service scaffolding, developer portals, and standardized platform consumption patterns - to simplify Kubernetes and cloud adoption across all IT portfolios.Contribute to cross-platform architecture initiatives including active-active and blue-green deployment patterns, strengthening platform resilience and release safety across shared runtime environments.Own and evolve tools and processes to build, test, deploy, and monitor software.Provide technical guidance and educate team members and coworkers on platform engineering, DevOps practices, and emerging cloud-native technologies.Serve as the last line of support for services and applications in production, driving root cause analysis and long-term remediation.Lead PoC and MVP initiatives evaluating emerging cloud-native technologies and validating architectural approaches prior to enterprise-wide adoption.Contribute to multi-regional system design including load balancer configuration, traffic routing, and resiliency patterns across distributed cloud environments leveraging Istio for service mesh, traffic management, and observability.Evangelize a DevOps culture of automation, self-service, and engineering best practices to enable development teams to go from development to production with minimum effort.Apply emerging GenAI-enabled capabilities pragmatically to modernize CI/CD workflows, automate developer operations, and embed intelligent tooling into the platform engineering lifecycle.We Are Looking For Candidates Who Possess The FollowingBachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience10+ years of strong, proven experience in DevOps, platform engineering, automation, and/or the software development lifecycle.Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure, including solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Maven, and Spring Boot.Deep, production-grade experience designing and operating enterprise Kubernetes platforms — AKS and GKE — supporting mission-critical distributed systems at scale.Proven experience building and operating Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) including developer portals, self-service workflows, and platform adoption patterns that measurably improve developer productivity.Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code and provisioning tools such as Terraform, Chef, or Puppet in large-scale, multi-node production environments; solid understanding of Linux and Windows platforms.Experience deploying and orchestrating containers in production environments using Docker and Kubernetes.Development experience designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems on public cloud platforms such as Azure and GCP.In-depth knowledge of RESTful services, service-oriented architecture, microservices, distributed systems, and API management.Strong knowledge across all layers of the TCP/IP stack and common Internet protocols including SMTP, DNS, LDAP, NTP, and HTTP.Proficiency in shell scripting and Python; ability to work fluently across platforms, languages, and all levels of the stack.Deep troubleshooting expertise - skilled in log analysis, traffic tracing, configuration diagnostics, and end-to-end systems resolution using automation tooling.Solid understanding of security, networking, and database technologies including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Redis.Experience building platform-integrated applications and developer-facing tooling using JavaScript/TypeScript and Python-based frameworks to abstract infrastructure complexity, automate workflows, and improve engineering productivity.Familiarity with enterprise service management and workflow platforms; ability to integrate platform engineering capabilities with broader IT operational and reporting ecosystems.Strong experience developing platform components, common frameworks, and shared services in collaboration with the developer community.Strong mission to put proactive solutions in place to prevent future problems and automate processes so that engineers can self-service their operational requirements.Passion for open-source technologies;
