Senior Mechanical Engineer, Data Centers - Remote (U.S.)
Senior Mechanical Engineer, Data Centers – Remote (U.S.) Full‐time, remote. Salary: $170,000 – $200,000 per year.ResponsibilitiesDesign heat rejection and HVAC systems for data centers, addressing cooling requirement type, airflow management, humidity control, redundancy, and energy efficiency.Select appropriate cooling equipment (fan wall, CRAH, chilled water, DX, CRAC, in‐row cooling, containment).Conduct CFD analysis of internal airflow and external building impacts; recommend design modifications.Ensure system redundancy and fault tolerance, including backup cooling, switchover mechanisms, and monitoring.Calculate heat load and plan capacity for growth and future upgrades; perform HVAC load calculations for admin and common spaces.Implement energy‐efficient strategies (economizers, VSDs, heat recovery, airflow optimizations) to meet sustainability goals.Design air quality and filtration systems with monitoring to protect IT equipment.Collaborate with electrical and mechanical teams to integrate HVAC with UPS, emergency power, fire suppression, and other infrastructure.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent education and experience.Experience installing and operating data‐center mechanical and electrical equipment.PE registration required.Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree or advanced coursework in HVAC systems or energy management.Knowledge of data‐center standards: Uptime Institute, TIA‐942, ANSI/BICSI 002.Professional certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP), LEED accreditation.Travel Occasional travel for client meetings, project milestones, and onsite collaboration.We welcome all qualified candidates who are eligible to work in the United States.
