Position Description Position Summary
The Bulk Tanker Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of bulk materials such as cement, fly ash, lime, or other dry bulk commodities to and from construction sites, plants, or storage facilities. This role requires strict adherence to DOT regulations, safe driving practices, and accurate loading/unloading procedures to ensure materials are delivered on time and in proper condition.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Operate a bulk tanker truck to transport dry bulk materials to designated locations.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with DOT requirements.
Load and unload materials using pneumatic systems, hoses, and valves.
Maintain accurate records of materials hauled, delivery times, and vehicle inspections.
Ensure proper handling and transfer of materials to avoid contamination or spillage.
Monitor gauges, pressure readings, and flow rates during loading/unloading operations.
Communicate effectively with dispatch, plant operators, and site personnel.
Follow all company safety protocols, DOT regulations, and applicable environmental guidelines.
Perform basic truck maintenance and report repair needs promptly.
Assist with other duties on-site as required when not driving.
Position Requirements Qualifications & Requirements
CDL Class A with clean 10 year driving record; tanker endorsement required.
Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably with bulk tanker operations.
Knowledge of pneumatic tanker operation and safe material handling procedures.
Ability to read and follow delivery schedules, manifests, and instructions from supervisors.
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and dust.
Ability to lift and handle hoses weighing up to 50 lbs. and connect/disconnect fittings.
Frequent climbing onto and off trucks and trailers.
Exposure to high noise levels and dusty environments.
Ability to work long or irregular hours, including nights and weekends, as project demands require.
