Brief DescriptionOverview: The retail supervisor assists in overseeing the daily operations of the produce department to ensure high standards of product quality, customer service, and merchandising. This role supports the Store Manager by supervising staff, maintaining fresh inventory, and ensuring compliance with food safety and company standards. The supervisor plays a hands-on leadership role while actively engaging with customers and team members on the sales floor.Responsibilities: Supervise daily produce department activities including stocking, rotation, ensure proper handling, and product presentation. Monitor and manage inventory levels, reduce shrink, and assist with ordering and receiving products. Ensure fruits and vegetables meet freshness, quality, and appearance standards. Execute pricing adjustments on products as directed by business requirements. Ensure timely and accurate execution of produce promotions in alignment with company standards and sales goals. Assist with produce displays, signage, and pricing accuracy. Oversee the purchasing process for 1st run, 2nd run and special orders, cross-check orders with what is received. Oversee inventory purchasing and ensure proper storage of back stock. Monitor daily sales and weekly purchase activity using Excel-based tracking spreadsheets. Coordinate with the returns department to process poor-quality or mispicked items. Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and food safety compliance. Follow food safety, sanitation, and health regulations. Enforce workplace safety policies and procedures. Monitor sales trends and suggest improvements to increase department performance. Guide, train and supervise employees in the department to ensure tasks are performed efficiently and effectively. Delegate daily tasks while ensuring team productivity and operational efficiency. Lead by example with strong work ethic and customer service. Manage the employee schedule, ensuring adequate staffing levels. Provide excellent customer service by answering product questions and offering recommendations. Resolve customer concerns professionally, promptly while ensuring a positive shopping experience. Promote seasonal items, sales, and value-added produce products. Requirements: Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours. Physical Abilities:Stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods. Work in refrigerated environments. Lift moderate to heavy objects up to 50 lbs. Ability to lift and move boxes or crates of produce. Visual ability to inspect products for quality and detect imperfections or spoilage. Education and Experience:High School or equivalent. 2+ years of retail or grocery experience, preferably in produce. Produce experience a plus but not required. Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Knowledge of fresh produce handling, storage, and quality standards. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Best practice visual merchandising. Basic knowledge of the English language, reading and understanding.
