Job Description Position Summary To operate an Offset Sheet Fed Printing Press to imprint designs or product information onto surfaces such as paperboard and/or corrugated board. Responsibilities Safety · Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work environment· Abide by all safety rules· Complete all required preventative maintenance duties Quality · Responsible for producing product that meets or exceeds customer expectations· Abide by all quality policies and procedures· Responsible for minimizing waste and adhering to the estimate standards Productivity · Responsible for producing product at a rate that meets or exceeds estimate standards· Make Ready Process1. Receive verbal instructions and reads job docket2. Check plates to job docket (i.e., correct item combination or number)3. Determine final count4. Determine ink rotation for new job5. Check die layout (vinyl) to printed sheet6. Directs press set up. Adjusts color to match color proofs for new jobs; or7. Receives approval to run job from: customer, sales rep or press supervisor8. Creates load tags that include job number, customer name, date, operators name, form, and load numbers · Run Process1. Pulls sheets to check color and overall quality of product2. Check sheet for the following: hickeys, scumming, and any markings3. Check ink fountains and adds ink if necessary4. Inserts one load tag in each load off press · After Run Process1. Records final counts on Job Docket2. Records ink and coating usage3. Directs press wash-up based on next job to run · General1. Provides clear direction to team in professional manner2. Shares information and helps develop team members3. Drives improvements and pursues ideas to remove obstacles4. Stays informed about advancements in printing technology and techniques5. Maintains a positive attitude and harmony within team6. Education, Job Knowledge, and Skills:· High School diploma or equivalent· Minimum 5 years' experience operating a Litho Printing Press-Proficient understanding of Conventional Inks and UV Inks-Proficient understanding of Aqueous Coatings and UV Coatings· KBA experience preferred but not required· Ability to operate equipment, tools required of role.· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. throughout shift.· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.· Ability to draft routine reports. Disposition Skills· Strong work ethic and knowledge of manufacturing and warehouse operations.· Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed all job performance expectations.· Actively listens and demonstrates strong people skills.· Initiative-taker, gets involved quickly, takes on challenges with enthusiasm.
