Palmer Group is partnering with a Des Moines-based company to fill a full-time Senior Java Developer position. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with strong Java expertise who are seeking a stable, long-term role in a collaborative environment. Please note that sponsorship is not available for this position.Work Model:HybridWhat You Will Do:Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable, secure, high-performance software solutions that meet HIPAA compliance standardsCollaborate with business stakeholders to convert complex requirements into maintainable and scalable technical specificationsParticipate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and best practice sharing while seeking mentorship opportunitiesApply modern engineering techniques such as automation, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipeline development, and infrastructure as code (IaC) to improve delivery speed and system reliabilitySupport cloud migration and modernization initiatives as neededMonitor and test applications proactively to ensure optimal performance, security, and regulatory complianceEngage in architectural planning and learn from senior developers to support system design and evolutionProvide on-call support and perform additional responsibilities as requiredWhat You Will Need To Be Successful:Associate's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related discipline, along with 5+ years of hands-on experience in application development (equivalent practical experience will also be considered)Familiarity with widely used Java-based web technologies and frameworksStrong command of SQL and expertise in designing relational databasesPractical experience with modern version control tools such as GitDemonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities and consistently deliver high-quality results under tight deadlinesExperience building applications using modern programming languages like Java, C#, or Python, along with database and SQL proficiencyWorking knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipeline developmentUnderstanding of healthcare or insurance systems, including areas such as claims processing, enrollment workflows, or regulatory complianceBenefits Overview:Health, vision, and dental insurance401kPTO Interested and qualified candidates can contact Brian Valenta at (515) 225-7000 or email bvalenta@thepalmergroup.com.
