Controls Software Developer
We’re looking for a deeply technical CODESYS Controls Engineer to join a high‑caliber automation team building next-generation machine control software for industrial systems. This role is hands-on, implementation-focused, and ideal for engineers who enjoy turning well-defined architectures into robust, production-ready control logic.⚠️ Important: This role requires direct, real-world CODESYS experience.TwinCAT / Beckhoff-only backgrounds will not be a fit🔧 What You’ll Be DoingDevelop and extend machine control software using CODESYS in a layered, modular architectureImplement IEC 61131-3 Structured Text and Function Block–based logic with reusable librariesIntegrate industrial hardware: motors, drives, sensors, scanners, actuators, and I/OWork with EtherCAT (primary), plus EtherNet/IP and ProfinetCollaborate in a product development environment with lab validation and early deployment supportFollow modern software practices: Git, code reviews, test disciplineSupport early deployments and travel periodically to the Seattle/Bellevue lab✅ Required Experience5+ years of hands-on CODESYS machine control development (non-negotiable)Strong command of Structured Text and Function Block programmingExperience with object-oriented PLC concepts (modular FBs, reusable components)Integration of diverse industrial devices and field hardwareExperience in material handling, conveyance, sortation, packaging, or manufacturing systemsExposure to Linux-based industrial PCsComfortable working within defined architectures and layered control modelsUS-based, authorized to work via a contracting firm⭐ Preferred / Nice to HaveDevice abstraction layers or hardware interface libraries in CODESYSConveyor systems experience: merges, diverts, gapping, singulation, sortationWarehouse, fulfillment, logistics, or e‑commerce automation backgroundKnowledge of functional safety and industrial safety standardsFamiliarity with Allen‑Bradley PLCs (legacy environment)Python or scripting for tooling or test automation🚫 What This Role Is NOT❌ Not full-scale multi-site field commissioning❌ Not high-level controls architecture or system design❌ Not TwinCAT / Beckhoff rebranded as CODESYSThis role is about building real control logic, validating it in the lab, and supporting early production—not sales demos or theoretical design.💡 Why This RoleWork on serious, production-grade automation softwareHighly technical team with clear architecture and standardsStrong separation between product development and field commissioningOpportunity to make a direct impact on industrial
