Recreation Therapist

Tuscola Behavioral Health Systems is dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services to our community. We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Recreational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. The Recreational Therapist will plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs designed to improve participants’ physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning. This role supports individuals in achieving greater independence, quality of life, and overall well-being. Responsibilities: · Assess participants’ recreational, functional, and therapeutic needs · Develop and implement individualized and group therapeutic recreation programs · Facilitate activities that promote physical health, emotional regulation, social skills, and community integration · Document assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes in accordance with regulatory requirements · Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including clinicians, case managers, and support staff · Adapt activities to accommodate varying abilities and therapeutic goals · Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment during all activities · Participate in care planning meetings and treatment reviews as required Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or related field · Certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) required · Experience working with individuals with mental health needs, developmental disabilities, or physical impairments preferred · Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills · Ability to work independently and as part of a team · CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain) · Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, if applicable · Must carry own professional liability insurance Job Type: Contract Pay: $20,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year Work Location: In person
