Job Title: Gas-Insulated Support Specialist
Location: Remote (US), with 75% travel to job sites across North America
Duration: 1 year (extendable up to 18 months)
Pay Rate: $83.33 per hour
Overview
Our client’s Engineering Service & Systems (EESS) division is seeking a Gas-Insulated Support Specialist to provide technical expertise and safety guidance related to gas-insulated electrical equipment. This role supports field-based personnel and helps drive the growth of gas-insulated technologies within the organization.
The EESS team consists of highly experienced field service technicians and engineers who support customers throughout the entire power system lifecycle—from commissioning and maintenance to troubleshooting and emergency response.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical guidance and support on gas-insulated electrical equipment to field service engineers and technicians.
Deliver technical training to employees and leadership both onsite and in classroom settings .
Assist in commissioning, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and installation of power distribution equipment.
Support teams in developing safe work practices , including Hazard Energy Control (HEC) and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
Develop safety checklists and complex LOTO procedures for field operations.
Mentor and train field personnel on best practices and safety protocols .
Provide remote and onsite technical consultation via phone, email, or in-person support.
Travel to multiple project sites as required to support field teams.
Strong understanding of gas-insulated electrical equipment (operation, construction, commissioning).
Extensive knowledge of power distribution systems (commercial, industrial, and utility).
Hands‑on experience with field service operations and project planning .
Strong understanding of Hazard Energy Control (HEC) and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) practices.
Excellent communication and active listening skills .
Ability to mentor and train technical staff .
Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards such as NFPA, OSHA, and CSA .
Ability to plan travel, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical field service .
Experience working with electrical distribution equipment , including:
Gas‑insulated equipment
Switchgear
Motor control centers
Transformers
Experience with preventative maintenance, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and installation .
Hands‑on experience with Hazard Energy Control / Lock Out / Tag Out planning and execution .
Associate’s Degree or equivalent military experience.
Valid and unrestricted driver’s license .
Willingness to complete customer background checks and drug screenings .
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Professional Engineering (PE) License .
Electrical Contractor License .
General Contractor License .
OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour General Industry/Construction Certification .
