DESIGN MANAGER - FUTURE OPPORTUNITY - WORK LOCATION: LOS ANGELES, CA Overview:Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates architectural and engineering design activities for assigned capital construction and renovation projects. Ensures compliance with District standards, applicable codes, regulatory requirements, budget, and schedule.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in architectural or engineering design, including experience managing design for public or institutional facilities. Preferred QualificationsProfessional licensure (Architect or Professional Engineer). Experience with DSA-reviewed projects. Experience with educational facilities (K-14 or higher education). DutiesManages, develops, and coordinates the district's design process to ensure plans are within functional program requirements, budget constraints, environmental objectives, and legal requirements. Oversees multiple design projects from conception through schematic design, design development, construction documents, and final approval. Directs and coordinates architects, engineers, consultants, and District staff to ensure design integration and consistency across disciplines. Reviews and evaluates design documents for completeness, constructability, quality, and compliance with District standards. Facilitates programming sessions and stakeholder meetings to establish project scope and design criteria. Establishes and monitors design schedules, milestones, and deliverables. Coordinates cost estimates and value engineering efforts to maintain project alignment with approved budgets. Reviews proposed design changes and evaluates impacts to cost, schedule, and project objectives. Ensures compliance with applicable building codes, accessibility requirements, and regulatory agency standards. Coordinates design approvals and submissions with oversight agencies, including Division of the State Architect (DSA), where applicable. Maintains project documentation including meeting minutes, action logs, and design review comments. Provides design-phase support during construction, including review of RFIs, submittals, and design clarifications. Ensures sustainability and energy efficiency goals are incorporated into project design, consistent with District requirements. LI-Onsite
