Communicate with campus staff, district special education staff, and parents/guardians information pertaining to student needs (such as but exclusively: ARD paperwork, IEP's, BIP's and general progress).What success looks like for this role: (In addition to teacher job description)Develop and implement individual education programs for students with significant cognitive, physical and medical needs.Prepare documents/assignments and attend ARD/IEP meetings for students in the Life Skills classroom OR for those receiving homebound services for special education.Complete local, state and federal paperwork required for program participation.Develop instructional program for eligible students to achieve mastery of the essential knowledge and skills.Consult with campus staff & related services personal, such as OT/PT/VI/AT, to provide an appropriate education for eligible students.Provide appropriate behavior management techniques for eligible students.Implement LIFE Skills critical elements checklist for structured environment, instructional strategies & behavior interventions.Maintain student data records and charts for assessing student progress.Administer criterion referenced testing as used to develop PLAAFP (or equivalent) and annual goals/objectives as indicated on student's IEPRetain appropriate documentation of skill development and mastery and report progress.Provide non-medical procedures such as tube feeding and other interventions as necessary for the student.Complete State assessment for eligible students.Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student's progress and needs/concerns.Oversee the responsibilities of the paraprofessional in implementing student programs.Provide care for students as related to hygiene, toileting, and nourishment.Other duties as assigned.Other SHARS Duties as assigned.Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.Potential leadership opportunities in this role:Supervise assigned teacher aide(s) and student teacher(s)Aspiring Assistant Principals AcademyWhy work for Katy ISD?Overall A rating from the Texas Education AgencyForbes rating - one of the best employers in the state of TexasNiche rating - top school district in the Houston areaWorld-class professional development and training opportunities to grow our network of confident and innovative teachersInclusive work environment where collaboration and teamwork are embedded in the culture and diversity is highly valuedCompetitive pay for teachersAdvanced degree stipend for Master's or Doctorate degreeAdditional stipends for certain positions such as coaching, fine arts, bilingual, and some special education positionsTeacher Incentive Allotment provides additional pay for Recognized, Exemplary, and Master teachers in designated classroom teaching positionsEmployee benefits include RediMD Telemedicine and EAP for mental healthcarePositive work-life balanceWorkplace operational environment to include:Maintain emotional control under stress.
