Marketing Specialist (Sr Communications Consultant)The City of Carmel is seeking a dynamic and strategic marketing professional to help elevate the city's brand, increase community engagement, and support high-impact communications initiatives. This role plays a key part in shaping how residents and visitors experience Carmel by executing integrated marketing campaigns and delivering compelling, multi-channel content. Position reports to the Director of Marketing & Community Relations.If you are a creative thinker with strong analytical skills and a passion for public service, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in one of the nation's most desirable cities.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and execute integrated marketing campaigns across digital, print, and social media channelsPartner with the communications team to develop and implement social media strategies that drive engagement and event participationCreate compelling content for blogs, social media, email campaigns, and the city websiteManage email marketing efforts, including audience segmentation, content development, and performance trackingCoordinate advertising campaigns across platforms such as PPC, social media, and traditional mediaConduct market research and competitive analysis to inform strategyEnsure brand consistency and strengthen overall brand awareness across all communicationsOptimize website content for SEO and manage SEM campaignsAnalyze campaign performance and ROI, providing insights and recommendations for improvementGather and evaluate resident feedback to enhance marketing effectiveness and satisfactionCollaborate with internal departments to align marketing efforts with organizational goalsAssist in managing the marketing budget and tracking expendituresOversee third-party vendors supporting marketing initiativesPrepare reports on campaign performance, marketing activities, and market insightsProvide graphic design support as neededQualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related fieldMinimum of six (6) years of relevant marketing experienceMunicipal government experience preferred, but not requiredValid Indiana driver's license requiredKnowledge & SkillsUnderstanding of municipal government operations and public-sector communicationsExperience with brand management and plain-language writing for diverse audiencesFamiliarity with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or CanvaStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlinesProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Basic graphic design and photo editing skillsAdditional RequirementsAbility to handle sensitive information with confidentialityCapacity to translate complex information into clear, actionable insightsAbility to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environmentWillingness to perform occasional physical tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs standing/walking for extended periods)Ability to operate equipment such as cameras and audio systems as neededOur CultureVision To be the best-run, most desirable city in the nation.Mission To create an environment where big dreams flourish, supported by a world-class community that enhances quality of life.ValuesInnovate Fearlessly Embrace change and strive for excellenceLead with Heart Serve with authenticity, purpose, and careEmpower Together Build connections that inspire and upliftEqual Opportunity EmployerThe City of Carmel, Indiana is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
