Process Development Engineer
Overview
In this role you will lead development of thin-film processes using Veeco’s ion beam deposition and etch tech, translating customer needs into robust BKMs and new applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define process specs and upgrade hardware with Engineering. You will act as the technical expert to customers and support Sales and Marketing in forming strong partnerships at key accounts. ResponsibilitiesLead process and application development with Veeco’s ion beam deposition and etch technologiesDevelop advanced thin-film processes aligned with current and future customer requirementsOwn design of experiments, execution, and data analysisDevelop and maintain best-known methods (BKMs) for process control and continuous improvementDrive adoption of BKMs and new applicationsEngage with customers as the technical expert to support partnershipsCollaborate with Sales/Marketing to define process specifications for Veeco toolsDevelop upgrades and hardware in coordination with Engineering for deposition/etch technologies
Key requirementsProcess development experience with vacuum thin-film technologyExpertise in thin-film characterization techniques: four-point probe, stress, ellipsometry, spectroscopy, XRD/XRR, depth profilingExperience with thin-film metals is desiredSemiconductor device knowledge and module process/processing integration in logic or memorySelf-directed, strong interpersonal skills, collaborative and adaptableWillingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationallySelf-directedInterpersonal/communication skillsCollaborativeVacuum thin-film technologyThin-film characterization techniques (four-point probe, stress measurements, ellipsometry, spectroscopy, XRD/XRR, depth profiling)Metals in thin films
