This is a flexible, substitute opportunity offering a wide range of fitness experience! NIFS is hiring substitute Group Fitness Instructors and Fitness Specialists who can cover classes and fitness center hours when our staff take time off for vacation, training, or illness. The Health Fitness Specialist substitute follows the direction of the Manager.Essential DutiesAssesses health status of members, ranging from apparently healthy to high risk, to provide exercise and other wellness-related counsel/recommendations unique to each individualTeaches group exercise classes onsite; provides a range of acceptable activities to meet various fitness levels of class participants; adheres to appropriate safety guidelinesSupervises fitness center and uses educational background and other relevant training to accurately and safely answer member questions related to health, fitness, and wellbeingMay conduct orientations according to the facility layout, membership policies/procedures, and Quality Assurance guidelinesEstablishes an ongoing positive and professional rapport with membersPartners with other staff to help clean equipment and other areas of the facility as neededMaintains familiarity with and abides by the policies stated in the NIFS Employee HandbookPerforms other duties as assignedQualificationsEducation and/or ExperienceDegree in a health-related field preferredRelevant work experience required; experience with older adult clientele preferredAbility to teach basic balance, chair exercise and muscle conditioning group fitness classes; where applicable, aquatic experience preferredFitness-related certifications (CPT, CSCS, etc) acknowledgedCurrent CPR/AED/First Aid certification requiredMay at any time be required to submit to and successfully pass a background check and/or drug screen.May be required to complete and pass a TB skin testNIFS is an equal opportunity employer.
