Frontend Engineer — React / Python / FastAPIEmployment Type: Full time, independent contractor Work Model: Remote Work Hours: US work hoursThe RoleWe are looking for a contract Frontend Engineer who can own the user-facing experience of the AlphaSearch platform while also contributing to backend API integrations. You will work directly with the founder to rapidly ship features, iterate on product direction, and help define what best-in-class looks like for M&A deal sourcing software.This is a contract engagement (1099) with a path to deeper involvement as the platform scales. The ideal candidate is comfortable wearing multiple hats — part product thinker, part engineer — and can move from wireframe to working feature quickly.What You'll DoDesign and build responsive, data-rich UI components in React that power search, filtering, and company discovery workflowsIntegrate frontend interfaces with FastAPI backend endpoints and third-party data enrichment APIsRapidly prototype new features and iterate based on user feedback and founder directionWork with MongoDB data structures to display and manipulate private company data at scaleCollaborate on LLM-powered features including AI-generated summaries, scoring, and target recommendationsMaintain clean, well-documented code and contribute to a scalable front-end architectureParticipate in product strategy discussions — your opinion on UX and workflow design matters hereWhat We're Looking For Required3+ years of experience with React (hooks, context, component architecture)Proficiency in Python — comfortable reading, writing, and debugging backend codeHands-on experience with FastAPI for building or consuming RESTful APIsExperience working with MongoDB (queries, schemas, aggregation pipelines)Demonstrated ability to rapid prototype — shipping working features quickly over perfectionStrong understanding of REST API design and integration patternsSelf-directed and comfortable working in an early-stage, async environmentNice to HaveFamiliarity with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude) and prompt-driven feature developmentExperience with data-heavy SaaS products — tables, filters, search, dashboardsBackground in fintech, proptech, or deal-flow / M&A toolingExperience with data enrichment platforms (Clay, Clearbit, Apollo, etc.)Familiarity with proxy infrastructure or web scraping pipelinesWhy Work for us?Work directly with the founder — no layers, no bureaucracy, fast decisionsFlexible hours and fully remote — we care about output, not clock timeExposure to the M&A and private equity world — a high-signal, high-leverage industry
