Structural Engineer, Entry LevelJob Description: Jph & Clark Structural, Inc. provides structural engineering design services to clients across the US for projects of various size and level of complexity. We are seeking an entry level Structural Engineer to join our team at our DeSoto, TX office. General Responsibilities: Performs structural engineering design under the direction and supervision of experienced structural engineers.Performs basic structural engineering design tasks to provide analysis and detailing for preparation of plans and specifications.Works with CAD drafters to develop construction drawings of structural designs.Researches technical topics as directed by project structural engineers.Assists in improvement of structural design standards, specifications, and typical.Develops and improves technical knowledge and skills.Maintains professionalism in relationships with other office and team.Constructively builds and maintains relationships with others on the project design team.Travel and site visits to observe construction or existing conditions required when requested.Preferred Skills: Basic knowledge of Structural design codes and standards including: International Building Code (including seismic design and detailing provisions) Design Loads: ASCE 7 Concrete: ACI 318Steel: AISC Steel Construction Manual 13th Edition or higherMasonry: ACI 530 Geotechnical issues and foundation designPresentation of structural design and detailing in construction documents Reading and interpretation of basic project construction drawingsComputer structural analysis and design programs using prismatic frame members and finite elements Ability to work with supervisor to effectively complete routine tasks General awareness of need for practicality and constructability of design solutionsGeneral awareness of the scope, schedule and budget assigned for engineering tasksAbility to work with more experienced structural engineers to apply standard textbook structural design and analysis approach Logically organizes work Ability to listen to others and ask clarifying questions at appropriate timeWillingness to accept suggestions and corrections on organization and planning issuesSeeks help to understand and productively work through conflict to keep tasks moving aheadUnderstanding that personal performance and actions impact future work opportunitiesStrong verbal and written communications skillsProficient in MS Word and ExcelRequired Experience:Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with Structural Emphasis from an ABET accredited structural engineering program0-3 years of experience in structural engineering Basic and advanced engineering coursework in: Statics, Dynamics, and Mechanics of Materials Structural analysis for building structures including manual and computer methodsStructural design and detailing using reinforced concrete, steel, and masonry  Preferred Experience: Master's degree in Structural Engineering Engineer-in-Training Certification Experience with RISA-3d or AutoCAD.
