Software Engineer

Job Summary We are seeking a versatile engineer to join our team. Your main responsibilities will be: - Design and implement a web API for embedded systems to send telemetry and receive OTA updates. - Create a mobile app which customers can use to access their telemetry and control their devices. - Design and code the frontend interface for the appliance. The web API and mobile app are new projects we're launching this year. Part of your job will be helping us evaluate and select the best tools for the job. We use C++ for the embedded application. While you do not need to be an embedded-systems expert, you must be comfortable reading and writing code in C++ or another strongly-typed language like Java or C#. Since this is a diverse, multi-role position, adaptability and a willingness to learn new systems are more important to us than expertise in any one area. This is an ideal role for a recent graduate or early-career developer looking to broaden their skillset. You will have the opportunity to receive mentorship from senior engineers while gaining hands-on experience in full-stack embedded development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and testing complex hardware and software solutions across various projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on fun technologies such as ESP32, IoT, AWS, and LVGL, contributing to the advancement of our products and systems. The engineer will collaborate with the engineering team to deliver high-quality solutions that meet industry standards and client needs. Duties Design and develop embedded software and firmware for ESP32 based hardware platforms. Design and develop AI powered systems for customer service and debugging. Troubleshoot customer issues with temperature and pressure sensors, user interfaces, and firmware bugs. Create and maintain PCB layouts and schematics; perform soldering and hardware debugging as needed. Implement communication protocols such as Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11) and Bluetooth. Develop APIs for seamless integration of hardware with software applications. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues. Assist in security/encryption design, code reviews and quality assurance practices. Requirements Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, Software Engineering, or related field. Strong proficiency in programming languages including C/C++, Python. Strong proficiency in programming microcontrollers, including the ESP32. Hands-on experience with PCB design tools (KiCad), soldering techniques, and hardware debugging. Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS is advantageous. Experience with app development for mobile and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth integration is also an additional advantage. Experience with software development and version control systems like GitHub is required. Ability to analyze complex technical problems using analysis skills; strong troubleshooting capabilities are essential. Excellent communication skills for technical documentation and teamwork.
