Negotiations Coordinator

Berkley Medical Management Solutions provides a unique managed-care service for the operating units of W.R. Berkley Corporation. We believe that focusing on an injured worker’s successful and speedy return to work is beneficial for both the injured worker and the Berkley operating units. Our services enable the clients of W.R. Berkley Insurance Group to better manage their worker’s compensation cases, while expediting care and returning their employees back to work faster with better outcomes.   The Negotiation Coordinator is a key member of the workers’ compensation medical bill review (“MBR”) operations team.  The Negotiation Coordinator contributes to the overall delivery of medical bill cost containment by negotiating discounts directly with providers and, at times, facilitating the negotiation function with strategic vendor partners.  The Negotiation Coordinator is a key liaison between Berkley Operating Units and providers with respect to these agreements and is responsible for following operating procedures and completing documentation to serve as a record of negotiation activity.Using pre-determined criteria, negotiates reductions on medical bills directly with providersFollows Negotiation team operating procedures, identifies, and recommends opportunities for efficiency gainsDocuments Negotiation approvals, transaction details, and outcomesAppropriately communicates, typically via email, negotiation proposals and responses with providers, Berkley operating units, and negotiation vendor partnersServe as primary point of contact for providers, Berkley operating units, and negotiation vendor partners regarding inquiries related to specific bill negotiationsWorks independently to meet expectations regarding negotiation completion rates in a fast-paced, regulated environmentResponsible for appropriate application of negotiation feesParticipates in team QA and audit activities as directedMakes decisions within the negotiation process to specific bills based on pre-determined criteria and under the direction of team managementDevelops use of the proprietary Negotiations Module in BMMS’ CASE-e to carry-out Negotiation activitiesSupports BMMS’ Negotiation product development by tracking outcomes and recommending opportunitiesIdentify issues with workflow and processes, and recommends solutions and workflow modificationsExhibits professional behavior at all times while representing or being identified as an employee of BMMSDemonstrate the use of tact and discretion in all communications and provide a positive contribution to the morale of the departmentEstablish and maintain exceptional working relationships with unit staff, clients, providers, and other departments 1-2 years of relevant skill experience required1-2 years of workers’ compensation medical bill review, negotiations, &/or provider network management experience preferredDemonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills requiredDetail orientedExperience working independently and consistently meeting goals requiredAbility to deliver timely and accurately on assignments while full-time remote with minimal supervisionEducation Associates Degree preferredHigh school diploma or GED required
