Our mission is to improve education dramatically for all students, especially students whose needs have not yet been well met. We collaborate with teachers and school and system leaders to implement changes that will help the students they serve, and believe that if we focus on a core set of promising strategies for change, we and our partners and clients can make bold improvements for all students, with long-term financial sustainability and success.Toward that end, we:Extend the reach of excellent teaching to all students, through Opportunity Culture School Design, an initiative to redesign staffing, pay and instruction for higher-growth learning and educator satisfaction. Multiple third-party studies have shown that students supported by Multi-Classroom Leader educators (an Opportunity Culture role) add an extra half year of learning annually, on average. Teachers in these schools are about twice as likely to recommend teaching compared to other teachers nationally, and teacher turnover and vacancies have declined in studied schools. Schools in seventeen states and Washington, D.C. now have Opportunity Culture schools.Use data, research, and curious problem-solving to create and spread high-impact innovations and solutions for education policy and management challenges.Role: The summer intern will support the Opportunity Culture consulting team by providing technical and logistics coordination for virtual and in-person delivery of professional learning sessions designed to support educators prepare for Opportunity Culture roles.Responsibilities include:Providing friendly, calm service during all the activities listed below, in collaboration with Public Impact team membersManaging remote meeting technology and logistics; includes sending meeting reminders and e-materialsManaging Zoom during virtual trainings and meetings, including breakout rooms, chat monitoring, and other customer-service-oriented activities to allow participants and facilitators to focus on the content of these sessionsProviding technical assistance when facilitators or participants have difficulties: using Zoom, using Public Impact's School Excellence Portal online platform, and with internet connectivity (e.g., helping them use phones for hotspots, solve home internet issues, fix speaker and microphone issues), and others as neededPerforming duties and support in SalesforceResponding to communications from professional learning attendeesProviding participant support during in-person sessions including event setup, participant check-in, and answering day-of logistical questions to ensure a positive and smooth participant experienceAssist with materials management including organizing and storing materials such as printed documents, supplies, and equipmentSupport event preparation by transporting materials to and from office locations, meeting sites, and storage areasCapturing content that can be shared by the Communications teamQualifications:Strong customer service orientation: demonstrably delights in helping others succeed and feel good while doing challenging workProfessional communication and reliability when representing the organization with external partners including vendors and participantsExcellent organizational skills: attention to details and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneouslyPrior knowledge of Zoom or similar platforms (and willingness and ability to learn Zoom technical detail very rapidly)Prior knowledge of internet connection methods, snafus and solutions; and of personal computer/laptop speaker, microphone and video issues and solutionsInterest and experience in social media content creationDemonstrated commitment to completion of tasks well on a timely basis, without reminderAbility to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writingProblem-solver with an eye to making systems more efficient and user-friendlyAbility to take initiative, multitask, and remain calm under pressure (e.g., during technology glitches and other challenges)Flexible, resourceful, and good-humored in a fast-paced, results-oriented cultureAble to interact with varied personalities and management styles in a courteous, friendly mannerEager to give and receive feedback to produce outstanding workDemonstrated interest in our mission through academic studies, extracurricular activities, paid/volunteer work, or other experiencesLocation: Work from home in approved US locations that are approximately 3 hours or less driving distance from Raleigh, N.C. Most team members currently live in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, N.C. area or in the Charlotte, N.C. area. We have an office in Chapel Hill, N.C. that is optional and available to use.Requirements Must have access to reliable internet and personal computer or laptopMost have a valid driver's license and ability to travel locally for work-related tasksMost have the ability to lift and carry material up to 25 lbsMust have access to a car to travel to Raleigh, NC for an in-person session July 8-9Travel: Expected to drive to one in-person session in Raleigh N.C. from July 8-9. Mileage, lodging (if needed), and meals while traveling will be covered by Public Impact.Term and Weekly hours: June 1 – July 31, 2026; approximately 20 hours/week with the week of June 29-July 3 off for the July 4 holiday. The intern will have a set schedule each week based on supporting live in-person and virtual sessions facilitated by PI team members.
