Senior Perception Engineer
Senior Engineer – Perception, Fusion & TrackingSalary: Up to $275,000 + Equity + Full BenefitsLocation: Remote (US) - ITAR compliantThe MissionSimulators lie. Clean sensor streams don't exist in the wild. Our client builds multi-domain autonomous platforms operating in unscripted, high-stakes environments. They need a senior builder to own the algorithmic core that turns noisy, asynchronous edge sensors on robotic vehicles into real-time, swarm-wide situational awareness. We aren't looking for purely theoretical researchers - we need a systems-minded engineer who can design, train, and deploy target tracking, deep learning, and multi-sensor fusion models directly onto resource-constrained autonomous hardware operating at the edge. What You’ll DoTarget Recognition & Tracking: Train, tune, and test automatic target recognition (ATR) and track management systems using modern neural network architectures.Onboard Sensor Fusion: Develop multi-sensor fusion and state estimation algorithms (Kalman filters, particle filters, multi-target tracking) optimized for resource-constrained autonomous vehicles.Swarm Intelligence: Design distributed fusion approaches that combine individual vehicle tracks across the swarm into a single, coherent operational picture.Edge Optimization & Real-Time Inference: Quantize, optimize, and execute deep learning models and state estimators for real-time inference on edge compute (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson).Field Validation & Rigor: Rigorously characterize algorithm performance against real-world flight data and simulation, writing clean, maintainable, high-performance code.Basic QualificationsEducation & Depth: MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, Robotics, or equivalent depth of applied real-world experience.Estimation & Tracking Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in estimation theory and multi-target tracking (Kalman/particle filters, JPDA, MHT, random finite sets, or similar).Applied Deep Learning: Hands-on experience training, evaluating, and deploying neural networks for real-time object detection or classification.Systems Programming: Strong programming skills in C++, Rust, Go, and/or Python.Research to Deployment: Proven track record of taking complex algorithms from initial concept/research all the way to deployment on physical robotic or autonomous systems.Preferred QualificationsEdge ML Deployment: Experience deploying ML models to embedded or edge hardware utilizing TensorRT, ONNX Runtime, and quantization techniques.Aerial & Multi-Domain Sensing: Experience processing EO/IR, radar, or RF sensor streams on aerial or autonomous platforms.Distributed Systems: Publications or fielded work in ATR, multi-sensor fusion, or distributed estimation across multi-agent networks.Domain Awareness: Familiarity with defense sensing, autonomous aerospace, or high-stakes tracking problem domains. The PackageBase Salary: Up to $275,000 + competitive Equity options.Benefits: Top-tier Health, Dental, and Vision coverage + 401(k) matching.Time Off: Unlimited PTO policy.Workplace & Travel: Remote-first flexibility, with up to 25% travel for high-stakes onsite test, hardware integration, and field flight events. If this job description resonates and you'd like to know more, hit apply or drop me a message for a catchup!
