Principal Software Engineer, Tech Lead – Data PlatformAtlanta, GA Are you a senior Data Engineer / Data Platform leader who wants to shape the future of data and AI?We’re looking for a Principal Software Engineer / Tech Lead to take ownership of a next-generation AWS + Databricks data platform and help build the foundation for analytics, machine learning, and emerging AI/agentic applications.This is a high-impact, hands-on technical leadership role where you’ll influence architecture, establish engineering standards, mentor engineers, and work directly with teams across the business.🔹 What You'll OwnLead the architecture and evolution of a modern AWS/Databricks LakehouseDesign and deliver large-scale ELT/ETL pipelinesEstablish standards for batch, streaming, ML, and AI workloadsDrive data governance, security, lineage, and access controlsImprove Spark/SQL performance, reliability, scalability, and cloud costsLead Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD practicesPartner with analysts, engineers, ML teams, product, and business stakeholdersHelp build an AI-ready data foundation, including semantic layers, feature stores, and data ontologyMentor engineers and provide technical direction across the organization🔹 What We're Looking For7+ years in data engineering, data platforms, or related engineering roles2+ years as a technical lead, architect, principal engineer, or senior technical ownerDeep, hands-on Databricks + AWS experienceStrong Spark/PySpark + SQL expertiseProduction experience designing and operating Lakehouse architecturesExperience with Delta Lake or similar open table formatsStrong Infrastructure as Code experience, particularly TerraformExperience with data governance, security, and access managementAbility to lead architecture while remaining technically hands-onExcellent communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersNice to HaveSemantic layer experienceFeature store experienceData ontology / knowledge graph experienceML data platformsLLM, AI, or agentic application experience
