Commercial Driver's License Driver (A & B)
Job Summary
Join Recon Construction, a roadway construction company based in York, PA, as a CDL Driver (Class A & B). In this role, you’ll be responsible for transporting heavy equipment, materials, and support vehicles between job sites and yards. You’ll play a critical part in keeping our milling, grading, and reclamation operations running efficiently. This position is ideal for a dependable driver who is comfortable working in construction environments and around heavy equipment.
Responsibilities
Safely operate Class A & B commercial vehicles, including:
Lowboy/tractor trailers for hauling heavy equipment
Dump trucks for material transport
Water trucks for dust control and site support
Spreader trucks for roadway operations
Transport heavy equipment (skid steers, backhoes, rollers, milling machine, paver machine, reclaimers, etc.) between job sites
Haul materials including oil emulsion and Portland cement for roadway stabilization and construction projects
Load and secure equipment properly using chains, binders, and tie-downs
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT regulations
Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and delivery documentation
Work closely with crew members and supervisors to coordinate deliveries and job site needs
Assist with basic labor tasks or equipment support when not driving (as needed)
Operate safely on active construction sites and roadways
Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations at all times
Report mechanical issues promptly and assist with basic vehicle care and upkeep
Requirements & Qualifications
Valid CDL Class A or B license
Ability to pass and maintain Pennsylvania DOT physical certification (required every 2 years)
Experience hauling heavy equipment and/or construction materials preferred
Knowledge of load securement practices (chains, binders, straps)
Comfortable operating in construction zones and around heavy equipment
Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to safety
Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings or overtime as needed
Clean driving record preferred
