Front Office Data Engineer – Marquee Global Macro Firm

OverviewWe are a global investment firm with a growing technology presence in the United States, where a small, high-impact team is building a modern, cloud-native data platform from the ground up.We are looking for a Data Engineer to join this team and play a key role in shaping how data is ingested, modeled, and delivered across the organization. This is a unique opportunity for someone early in their career to work on a greenfield platform while learning from experienced engineers in a highly collaborative environment.We are particularly interested in candidates coming from systematic, market data, reference data, or trade data environments—including those with experience at banks, exchanges, or data vendors who are excited to apply their knowledge in a modern data stack.What You’ll DoContribute to the design and development of a scalable data platform built on Snowflake Build and maintain data pipelines that ingest and transform market, reference, and transactional data Work with structured and semi-structured datasets across a variety of financial domains Collaborate with senior engineers to implement best practices in data engineering and software development Support data quality, validation, and monitoring processes Help model datasets to support analytics, research, and downstream applications Partner with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions What We’re Looking For1-4 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or data-focused roles Background working with market data, reference data, trade data, or similar financial datasets Experience with SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java) Understanding of data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling fundamentals Exposure to distributed or cloud-based data environments is a plus Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Eagerness to learn, grow, and take ownership in a fast-paced environment Nice to HaveExperience with KDB+/Q or other time-series data technologies Familiarity with Snowflake or other modern data warehouse platforms Exposure to orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) Understanding of financial instruments and market structure Experience working in a bank, trading firm, exchange, or data vendor What Sets This Role ApartOpportunity to work on a greenfield data platform from day one Direct exposure to experienced engineers and modern engineering practices High ownership and visibility despite a junior title Broad exposure to financial data domains (market, reference, transactional) A strong engineering culture that treats data as a first-class product
