Valuation Analyst Intern

About the roleCogent Valuation is a nationally recognized business valuation firm with over 30 years of experience delivering independent opinions for transactions, tax, financial reporting, and dispute resolution. This internship offers hands-on exposure to real client work under the direct supervision of senior professionals.What you'll doWork directly with senior analysts and managing directors on active client engagements, including:- Researching industry, transaction, and economic data to support valuation analyses- Reviewing and spreading company financial statements using our proprietary valuation model- Adjusting reported financials to derive meaningful valuation multiples and ratios- Writing economic overviews and industry reports across a wide range of sectors- Supporting the preparation of client deliverable reports- Taking on additional responsibilities as you demonstrate mastery of core tasksWhat we're looking for- Junior, senior, or graduate student with a concentration in Finance, Accounting, or Economics- Familiarity with financial statements and accounting concepts- Strong Excel skills and attention to detail- Clear, concise written and verbal communication- Genuine interest in valuation, M&A, or financial advisoryNice to have- Exposure to DCF, comparable company analysis, or precedent transactions- Experience with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, or similar data platformsWhat you'll gainReal engagement experience from day one, direct mentorship from credentialed professionals (ASAs and CFAs), and a strong foundation for a career in investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, or valuation. This is a paid internship with compensation of $18–$25/hour, commensurate with experience.
