(internet, telephone, home office setup, etc.).Position Overview~The Dean of Assessments is a senior academic and operational leader responsible for the full design, execution, and continuous improvement of all assessment systems across the organization. This role oversees the complete lifecycle of local, state, and national assessments—including planning, compliance, logistics, training, administration, reporting, and budget management.This leader ensures that all assessment programs are executed with precision, fidelity, and full compliance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements, while also building systems that support instructional insight, student achievement, and organizational accountability.The Dean of Assessments serves as the central authority on all testing-related matters and works cross-functionally with academic, operations, technology, and campus leadership teams to ensure seamless implementation across all campuses and programs.Essential Position FunctionsComprehensive Assessment Strategy & OversightDesign and lead a cohesive, organization-wide assessment strategy aligned to academic goals and accountability systems.Oversee the full lifecycle of all assessments including planning, securing state-wide locations to test, scheduling, execution, and post-assessment analysis.Ensure alignment between assessment systems and instructional priorities, including progress monitoring and student outcomes.Establish and maintain assessment calendars across all campuses and programs.State & National Testing LeadershipLead the design, coordination, and execution of all state-mandated assessments, including~○ STAAR & End-of-Course (EOC)○ TELPAS○ TSIA2Oversee national and college readiness assessments, including~○ SAT / ACT○ ASVABManage additional assessment programs, including~○ Iowa Assessments (for private school programs)○ Beginning, Middle, and End-of-Year (BOY/MOY/EOY) assessments○ mCLASS and other formative/diagnostic toolsEnsure 100% compliance with all TEA and testing vendor requirements, including security, accommodations, and reporting.Testing Logistics & OperationsOwn all logistics related to assessment implementation, including scheduling, staffing, materials, technology readiness, and test site coordination.Develop and implement standardized systems and protocols for test administration across all campuses.Monitor all testing environments (virtual and in-person) to ensure fidelity, security, and adherence to procedures.Anticipate and proactively resolve operational challenges before and during testing windows.Training & Capacity BuildingDesign and deliver comprehensive training programs for all staff involved in testing, including administrators, proctors, and support teams.Ensure all staff are fully trained and certified (where required) on current testing platforms, procedures, and compliance requirements.Provide ongoing updates and just-in-time training aligned to changes in state policies or vendor systems.Build internal capacity by developing clear guides, manuals, and resources for assessment administration.Compliance, Policy, & Risk ManagementServe as the organizational expert on all assessment-related policies, staying current on updates from TEA and other governing bodies.Ensure strict adherence to all testing security protocols and ethical standards.Manage documentation, audit readiness, and compliance reporting.Lead incident response and investigation processes related to testing irregularities, if applicable.Data, Reporting & Continuous ImprovementOversee the collection, validation, and analysis of assessment data across all programs.Partner with academic leadership to translate assessment data into actionable insights for instruction and intervention.Develop reporting systems for campuses, leadership, and external stakeholders.Lead post-assessment reviews to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with the Chief of Schools, Principals, Academic Teams, Operations, and Technology departments to ensure seamless execution of all assessments.Coordinate with external partners, vendors, and district stakeholders as needed.Support alignment between assessment systems and broader organizational initiatives.Budget & Resource ManagementDevelop and manage the annual assessment budget, including forecasting, vendor contracts, and cost control.Evaluate assessment tools and platforms to ensure cost-effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals.Oversee procurement and allocation of all testing materials and resources.Other DutiesLead or support strategic initiatives related to accountability, assessment innovation, and student performance.Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.Education & Certification RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Business, or related field (required)Master’s Degree (preferred)Valid Texas Educator Certification (preferred)ExperienceRequired Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesMinimum of 3–5 years of experience in assessment coordination, administration, or academic operationsDirect experience managing state assessments such as STAAR and TELPAS strongly preferredExperience in a K–12 school or district setting requiredExperience leading large-scale, multi-campus testing operations preferredKnowledge & SkillsDeep knowledge of Texas state assessment systems, compliance requirements, and testing protocolsStrong project management and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detailAbility to manage complex logistics across multiple campuses and testing windowsExcellent communication and training facilitation skillsStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in high-stakes environmentsAbility to work cross-functionally and lead through influenceHigh level of integrity and commitment to testing security and ethical standardsProficiency with assessment platforms, data
