Consultant Vibration Engineer
Conduct detailed computational analysis: dynamic modelling, piping stress analysis, piping modal analysis, acoustic analysis, flow-induced (Strouhal) pulsation studies, forced response analysis, water hammer (transient) analysis, fatigue analysis, small bore branch connection evaluation and othersAct as a client focal point for projects involving both troubleshooting problems on existing facilities as well as design studies for new facilitiesUndertake the required technical aspects as required as well as lead other team members in delivering larger scale projects (including interaction and support from other vibration and CFD specialists as required)Perform pipework design and field studies (analysis) for new or existing facilities.Pipework vibration studies across various process systems. This involves pipework vibrations analysis using Energy Institute methods, field troubleshooting and field visual inspection. The field troubleshooting can entail vibration and strain measurements on client facilities to assist in identifying sources of failures.Display effective consultancy skills within the team in the office and on site as required. These include client engagement, problem solving, self starter, enthusiasm, effective time and project management, planning, good communications, excellent technical delivery and an enthusiastic outlookPrepare timely and accurate technical reports to professional standardsThe work will involve commercial software such as ANSYS software, CAESAR II, AutoCad, Solidworks, AFT Impulse and others. The computer modelling will also involve VDN’s proprietary modelling softwareImplement and adhere to VDN EH&S policy at all work sitesProven track record in communication and client interactionsEstablish and maintain strong working relationships with customers and colleaguesPro-actively share knowledge within the team and contribute to ongoing technical project delivery methodologies and proceduresQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; other disciplines with relevant (vibration analysis) experience will be considered.Minimum of 3 years industry experience in Engineering consulting firm; industry experience in piping vibration analysis highly desirableStrong interest in vibration, fatigue, integrity management, reliability, and designExperience using Finite Element, Acoustical simulation software, hydraulic transient, and SolidWorks (or similar computational software is highly desirable)Ability to read P&ID, PFD, HMB, and piping isometrics is an asset, as is experience with process and hydraulic calculationsPhysically capable and willing to execute site work, which will require carrying up to 50 pounds of measurement equipment, and potentially working on elevated platforms, scaffolding or other work areasExcellent communication skills (written and spoken) with the ability to speak directly to the issue and to adapt to work environment and customers’ communication styleStrong time management and organizational skills, with the desire to go the extra milePowered by JazzHRiRquiRVZ3O
