A highly respected, mission-driven investment firm in Washington, DC seeks an experienced Investments & Transactional Counsel to join its in-house legal team. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of sophisticated real estate finance and impact investing.About the RoleReporting to the General Counsel, this attorney will play a key role across the full lifecycle of complex investment transactions, including origination, structuring, execution, and post-closing matters. The role offers broad exposure to multifamily finance, mortgage-backed securities, and affordable housing initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesAdvise on real estate finance transactions, including direct loans, equity bridge loans, and agency/GSE investmentsDraft and negotiate transaction documents and investment termsPartner with internal teams to evaluate deals and resolve issuesManage outside counsel on transactionsSupport post-closing matters, including amendments, waivers, and defaultsParticipate in Investment Committee processesAssist with New Markets Tax Credit transactions and related complianceSupport contracts and other legal initiativesQualifications10+ years of multifamily real estate finance experience (law firm and/or in-house)Strong experience negotiating and closing complex transactionsFamiliarity with agency/secondary mortgage markets and CMBSDeep understanding of lender-borrower dynamicsWhy This RoleSuccession planning hire for the Deputy GC role in the next 12-18 monthsMission-driven platform focused on affordable housing and community impactHigh-impact role with senior leadership exposure$250K–$270K base + discretionary bonus + excellent benefits
