The incumbent actively manages internal and external communications by maintaining a robust web and social media presence, coordinating news media coverage, and facilitating community outreach events such as speaking engagements, base tours, and local observances. By gathering and analyzing critical information, this role ensures all released content is properly coordinated, cleared, and perfectly aligned with established public affairs policies and agency goals. In addition to strategic communication planning, the position is responsible for producing diverse multimedia materials to effectively convey agency programs and activities. This includes drafting news releases, speeches, talking points, and feature articles, as well as designing and assembling visual information products like photographs, videos, podcasts, and presentations. Collaborating closely with subject matter experts, the incumbent tailors written and visual content to suit specific audiences, carefully planning layout, typography, and visual impact across print, digital, and exhibit platforms while also serving as a liaison for visiting media crews. Serving as a key representative of the Public Affairs Office, the incumbent builds and maintains vital relationships with installation personnel, local community leaders, and news media representatives. Beyond attending meetings and resolving routine public affairs inquiries, the role provides essential administrative support to the office. This encompasses managing official correspondence, fielding public and stakeholder requests for information, and ensuring the smooth operational flow of both community relations initiatives and daily office functions. REQUIREMENTS: - U.S. Citizenship - Obtain & maintain a security clearance - May be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: 1. Knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of a public affairs program and written and oral communication principles, methods, and techniques to conduct and coordinate public affairs activities to develop intercommunication between the agency and a variety of stakeholders. 2. Knowledge of the organization’s operations and functions sufficient to communicate accurate information. 3. Knowledge of concepts, principles, policies, and practices involved in communicating information through visual means which may include illustrations, photography, presentations, television/motion picture production, and base cable access television. 4. Skill in gathering, evaluating, and interpreting information to identify potential problems, arrive at valid conclusions and offer meaningful recommendations and/or resolutions to recurring, precedented assignments. 5. Skill in working with people to establish and maintain effective working relationships with groups interested in or affected by AF and local installation/organization programs and policies and producing written information conveying complex information to public stakeholders with different levels of understanding. 6. Skill and ability to plan and develop news stories, features, and quasi-technical articles.
