Typical Years of Requisite Experience: 1-3 + yearsProfessional Licensure: Not RequiredCommon and Baseline Responsibilities:Provides creativity and assistance throughout the design process under routine guidance and following the process outlined by the team.Contributes to the overall success of the team by adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design.Supports data gathering, research, and creative exploration.Analyzes sites, programs, and other key project elements through quantitative and qualitative means.Develops analytical and design drawings throughout the design process using analog (through sketching and physical modeling) and digital means (through digital analyses, sketching, and modeling).Assists in preparing design documentation including master plan reports, design guidelines, and client-ready presentation materials.Coordinates input and produces revisions to drawings, project deliverables, mock-ups, and other project material.Assists in reviewing, evaluating, and integrating zoning and policy requirements into project design.Assists in developing strategies for key urban frameworks and systems including but not limited to circulation, open space, buildings, and infrastructure.Assists with project-related client and public discussions and presentations.Takes increasing ownership on tasks within project teams and studio activities.Exercises creative judgment in all aspects of the design process.Proactively asks questions and expresses curiosity about the world of design and the industry at large.Participates actively within collaborative team settings such as: casual team interactions, design charettes, reviews, and pin-ups.Keeps open communication within the team and with designated team leader.Communicates ideas and thoughts in a way that inspires others.Assists with coordination among other design partners and consultants.Self-checks work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.Completes tasks and responsibilities on projects, within the scope of work, schedule, and budget, in an organized, timely and consistent way.High-level Summary Of Critical, Baseline Technical Skills And CertificationsProficiencies:Site and design researchSite analyticsPlanning and zoning code analyticsConcept and detailed design studiesProduction of drawings and deliverablesHand-drawn and digital sketchingComputational analysisSoftware:Functional knowledge of 2D/3D production software (Revit, Rhino)Functional knowledge of digital sketching/diagramming software (Illustrator)Functional knowledge of analytical tools (ArcGIS, Grasshopper)Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)Functional knowledge of visualization tools (Enscape, VRay)Functional knowledge of physical modeling makingFunctional knowledge of presentation tools (InDesign, PowerPoint)Licensure/Certifications/Education:Bachelor’s degree in urban design, landscape, architecture, or related discipline requiredLEED GA within 6 months of hireProfessional Accreditation in one area of Living Design that interests you: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD, or ILFI Living Future AccreditationPreparing for professional licenseWorking on AICP certification
