Assistant Principal Lower Elementary
Overview
Oakridge Public Schools is seeking to employ an innovative assistant principal for our Lower Elementary building (grades K-3) with a genuine passion for serving students, staff, and the community. The leader should have a track record of building high-functioning teams, developing trusting relationships, and appreciating those contributing to our successes. The candidate should have a deep understanding of MTSS processes and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports.
Qualifications
Possess a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership or equivalent (as determined by Employer).
Possess or be eligible for a valid Michigan Administrator Base Certificate.
Minimum of three to five years of demonstrated successful teaching experience.
Preference for advanced professional development and understanding of district matters/initiatives such as balanced assessment of student academic growth, Common Core State Standards, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, technology integration, and reading/writing literacy.
Preferred demonstrated successful prior leadership experience.
Knowledge of and experience with Google Suite products and other technology applications.
Responsibilities
Nurture positive relationships with all students.
Supervise students during passing times in the halls, on school grounds, in the lunchroom, and at all school activities (before, during and after lunch).
Assist with student attendance and disciplinary matters. Work closely with teachers and parents in these areas.
Conduct teacher observations and evaluations.
Work with other administrators, teachers, parents, and students to promote and maintain a high-quality learning environment.
Assist with staff development initiatives.
Maintain a working knowledge of building operations.
Represent the administration at events and all other functions as assigned by the Principal.
Attend workshops and conferences, as needed.
Assist with the general operation of the school.
Promote change based on relevant research and knowledge.
Use relative data in all decision-making practices.
Promote district curriculum and instruction initiatives.
Present a positive image of the school and district to parents, students, and faculty at all times.
Maintain complete, up-to-date and accurate records as required.
Perform all other duties as needed.
