POSITION TITLE: Teacher, Middle Grades - Gifted Science JOB CLASSIFICATION: Certified 189 day employee. FLSA Status: Exempt QUALIFICATIONS: Education:Qualified candidates must hold, or be eligible to hold, a Georgia teaching certificate in Middle Grades or 6-12 in the field of the job posted.Advanced degree preferred. Experience:Successful teaching experience RESPONSIBLE TO: School Principal RESPONSIBLE FOR: Practicing the teaching profession according to the highest ethical standards and accepting the responsibility he/she has assumed by choosing a career in education MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Demonstrates prompt and regular attendanceDemonstrates an understanding of the curriculum, subject content, pedagogical knowledge and needs of students.Plans using state and district standards and curricula, data, effective strategies and resources to meet the needs of all students.Provides appropriate content and skill development which address individual learning differences.Selects a variety of diagnostic, formative and summative assessment strategies that are valid and appropriate.Gathers, analyzes and uses relevant data to measure student progress and inform instruction.Provides a safe, well-managed environment that is conducive to learning.Creates a student centered academic environment in which teaching and learning occur at high levels and students are self-directed learners.Exhibits a commitment to professional ethics and the school's mission.
