Job title: Forklift Operator
Pay: Starting at $21.02 to $25.50 an hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7am to 5:30pm
Location: Vancouver, Washington
The Forklift Operator supports our Mission of Legendary Service Through Teamwork by safely and efficiently loading truss packs for our drivers to deliver. The accuracy of loads is key to save time and money for the company, so the load builder is an important component of the Parr team. As needed, the Forklift Operator assists other yard employees.
The Forklift Operator reports directly to the Production Manager. They interact daily with the General Manager, Yard Employees, Customer Service Employees, and Truck Drivers.
QualificationsOSHA Certified Forklift License
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
Ability to speak, write, and read English required
Knowledge of dimension lumber and panel products and other building materials
Ability to read and interpret "pick tickets" and invoices
Ability to concentrate and attend to detail amidst a busy work environment
Class C driver's license or reliable alternative transportation
Acceptable driving record preferred
Duties and ResponsibilitiesUtilizes Forklift or Heavy Machinery to unload and load crane trucks
Builds safe and efficient loads of building materials by correctly reading load sheets and invoices
Loads trucks in order of delivery schedule and in accordance with local and state laws and regulations
Ensures loads are complete and all items on paperwork are loaded on truck
Checks loads for banding order and quality, reports any quality issues to management and/or helps to fix the issue.
Puts stock away
Clears racks when needed so build tables can continue to produce without delay
Stages floor packs so they are ready when logistics comes to get them, loads floor packs onto logistics trucks
Receive delivered inventory by properly inspecting paperwork for accuracy and by depositing inventory in designated locations
Opens and closes yard as needed
Keeps forklift clean
Ensures that appropriate paper work is completed as per company policy
Check all paperwork for accuracy.
Maintain yard cleanliness during course of day
Perform other related duties as assigned
The Forklift Operator primarily works outdoors in all weather conditions.
Physical RequirementsAbility to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
Must be able to grasp, talk, hear, and operate a computer and keyboard
Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds and carry objects 50 feet
Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Must be able to drive a vehicle when necessary
Both local and overnight travel may be required
Ability to cover different shifts when necessary
