Instructional Designer
Under the direction of the Distance Learning Coordinator, the Instructional Designer (ID) will provide instructional design and technology support for all campuses, assist with ID training, support, and professional development, create instructional materials and products, and help redesign courses for technology-based delivery. The ID will help faculty and staff learn, become proficient, and apply instructional technology.The Instructional Designer's primary responsibility is to identify performance, skills, knowledge, information, and attitude gaps of a targeted audience and create and deliver learning experiences to fill those gaps. This position will be based on the Enterprise campus, with travel to other Enterprise State campuses as needed.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, build, and revise course content within the LMS in collaboration with faculty or as assigned by administration.Develop instructional or training roadmaps for online and hybrid courses and programs.Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content.Adapt instructional content or delivery methods for different levels or types of learners.Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface, and the finished product.Analyze and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design.Design instructional aids for stand-alone or instructor-led classroom or online use.Maintain project documentation and electronic course development documentation.Support students, faculty, and staff via phone, email, and in person with instructional design and technology questions and issues.Use assistive technology and create instructional content that meets WCAG standards.Assist instructors and the Distance Learning Department in developing ADA-compliant course and training materials; monitor online course content for ADA compliance; troubleshoot issues with software and instructional materials as needed.Assist instructors with developing and documenting course activities and substantive interactions for DOE and SACSCOC requirements.Assist the Distance Learning Coordinator with conducting professional development sessions covering technologies such as Canvas, Honorlock, TurnItIn.com, Microsoft Office 365, live conferencing tools (Microsoft Teams) and other educational technologies.Conduct training sessions through group and one-on-one sessions with live conferencing tools, such as Microsoft Teams.Travel to multiple campus locations to meet in person with faculty and staff for various training and professional development sessions.Assist with hybrid and online Master Template workshops and Master Template course design and maintenance.Represent the Distance Learning Department on committees and in general to the campus community; participate in professional associations and seminars, as appropriate.Maintain a highly professional and positive demeanor while demonstrating effective leadership, clear communication, policy compliance, and commitment to promoting and supporting the College and its campuses, along with fulfilling all assigned duties.Required QualificationsMinimum of a bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field from a regionally accredited institution, OR a bachelor's degree in any field from a regionally accredited institution with a master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field from a regionally accredited institution.Demonstrated experience with instructional design models.Demonstrated experience writing effective copy, instructional text, and/or video scripts.Demonstrated knowledge of course quality standards and best practices in course design, including experience applying quality elements to develop, review, and improve instructional materials.Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field from a regionally accredited institution.Experience creating and designing courses in a learning management system, specifically Canvas.Experience working in a post-secondary setting.Demonstrated experience conducting professional development workshops.Salary: Salary Schedule E2 02 $50,680 - $68,169, based upon the Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule to be determined by the applicant's education and years of applicable experience.
