Apply via Dice today!Job Title: SQL Server / Azure SQL Database Administrator (DBA)Location- RemoteJob SummaryWe are seeking a skilled SQL Server / Azure SQL DBA to manage, maintain, and optimize database systems across on-premises and cloud environments. The role focuses on ensuring database performance, availability, security, and reliability while supporting business-critical applications.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases and Azure SQL environmentsMonitor database performance and optimize queries, indexes, and configurationsManage backups, restores, and disaster recovery planningEnsure high availability using replication, clustering, or Azure HA featuresImplement and maintain database security (roles, permissions, encryption)Troubleshoot database issues and provide root cause analysisPerform database patching, upgrades, and migrations (on-prem to Azure)Automate routine DBA tasks using scripts (PowerShell, T-SQL)Work with development teams to design efficient database structuresMonitor and manage Azure resources, costs, and performanceRequired Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field3–6 years of experience as a SQL Server DBAStrong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022)Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database / Managed InstanceProficiency in T-SQL (queries, stored procedures, functions)Experience with backup/recovery models and HA/DR solutionsUnderstanding of performance tuning and query optimizationFamiliarity with monitoring tools and DMVsPreferred QualificationsExperience with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure preferred)Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator AssociateKnowledge of ETL processes and tools (SSIS, Azure Data Factory)Experience with database migrations and modernization projectsFamiliarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelinesKey CompetenciesStrong analytical and troubleshooting skillsAttention to detail and data integrity focusAbility to work under pressure in critical situationsGood communication and collaboration skillsProactive monitoring and optimization mindsetWork EnvironmentMay involve on-call support for production systemsHybrid cloud/on-prem infrastructureCollaboration with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams
