Assistant Director of Finance
Kristin Wasson is looking for an experienced finance leader on the Oregon Coast. This role combines hands-on accounting leadership with strategic planning, helping ensure accurate reporting, sound budget management, and strong internal controls. The ideal candidate brings a solid background in public sector finance, the ability to guide staff effectively, and the judgment to maintain compliance with applicable financial standards.Responsibilities:• Direct daily finance activities, including payables, payroll oversight, and related accounting operations, while ensuring work aligns with applicable governmental standards.• Prepare and review financial statements, budget updates, and forecasting materials to support informed decision-making and long-range planning.• Lead month-end and year-end close processes, maintaining complete records and coordinating documentation for annual audit activities.• Supervise finance team members by setting expectations, monitoring performance, and providing coaching to support departmental effectiveness.• Help develop, track, and manage the annual budget, ensuring expenditures and allocations remain aligned with approved financial plans.• Support grant-funded initiatives by monitoring financial requirements, maintaining supporting documentation, and submitting reports within required deadlines.• Strengthen fiscal oversight by maintaining internal controls, reviewing financial procedures, and promoting compliance with budget administration policies.• Monitor cash flow trends and financial performance indicators to identify risks, improve reporting accuracy, and support operational stability.• At least 5 years of finance or accounting experience, including leadership responsibility in a structured finance environment.• Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting, month-end close, financial reporting, and cash flow forecasting.• Experience applying fiscal controls, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting audit preparation.• Strong understanding of finance practices, regulations, and compliance standards, preferably within a governmental or public sector setting.• Proven ability to supervise staff, conduct performance evaluations, and manage competing departmental priorities.• Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information to varied audiences.• Proficiency in analyzing financial data and translating results into practical recommendations for planning and operations.Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
