Highway Project Engineer- Multiple Locations NY

Job Description Salary: $75,000-$95,000 Per YearAbout the RoleThe Highway Engineer Position will work with our clients and the highway team leader to design and detail plans on a variety of Local, State and County highways. There will be opportunities to engage projects at all stages of design and construction including feasibility and preliminary design where design decisions and input are invaluable, roadway design including alignments and superelevation, grading, drainage design, work zone traffic control, traffic signals, signage and pavement markings, pavement cross sections, permitting, bidding, and construction administration. Opportunities for growth within our company are available based on performance, communication skills and teamwork capabilities.Key ResponsibilitiesApply broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices.Evaluate, select and adapt standard techniques, procedures and criteria to solve technical issues.Prepare basic and advanced engineering designs and/or technical data for completion and accuracy.Provide advanced judgement and analysis techniques to prepare complete project documents including design reports and final plan setsPerform engineering quantity takeoffs and create construction costs estimates.Assist with proposal development for professional services.Perform field investigations/site visits as needed and prepare reports.Interpret and follow scopes of work, budgets, and schedules, completing projects within budget and on time.Analyze and interpret data, formulate and solve problemsCoordinate with other team members to ensure project success.Design complete projects, systems, components or processes.Demonstrate knowledge of standards including MUTCD, AASHTO and NYSDOT.This position is open to the following office locations; please indicate which office you would prefer when filling out an application:Binghamton, NYHorseheads, NYRochester, NYQualificationsBachelors Degree in Civil Engineering requiredMinimum four (4) years experience in highway/roadway design, preferably with EIT, PE is a plusStrong knowledge and experience in local and state highway/roadway design, pavement design, drainage system evaluation, intersection design, turning lane warrants, maintenance/ protection of traffic plans, and NYSDOT specifications/ details.Knowledge of NYSDOT highway design manual and specificationsMicrostation and/or Open Roads Designer experience a mustTraffic analysis and studies experience and signal design experience a plusGood technical writing and communication skillsKnowledge in plan and specification preparationSelf-motivated, organized, and open to learning new and innovative design procedures and methodsBenefitsHolidaysPTOHealth InsuranceFSA/ HSALife Insurance401(K) planContinuing Education SupportAbout HUNTHUNT is a full-service A/E Firm with offices located in Albany, NY, Binghamton, NY, Horseheads, NY, Rochester, NY, Towanda, PA, and Williamsport, PA.As a firm, our vision is to build vibrant communities by empowering creativity and partnership.
