Position Type:High School Teaching/MathematicsDate Posted:4/16/2026Location:GFW Middle School & High SchoolDate Available:Fall 20267-12 Mathematics Interventionist (Part-Time)Position PurposeUnder the general supervision of the School Principal, to provide targeted, data-driven instruction to at-risk students to improve their mathematical proficiency and ensure they meet state and district standards. They serve as a bridge, helping students move from foundational gaps (like fractions or integers) to complex secondary topics (like Algebra and Geometry).Essential FunctionsReviewing standardized test scores, district benchmarks, and classroom grades to identify students in need of Tier 2 or Tier 3 support.Administering specific tests to find the "root cause" of a student's struggle (e.g., is it a lack of number sense or a reading comprehension issue with word problems?).Frequently tracking student growth using data tools to determine if the intervention is working or if a different strategy is needed.Targeted InstructionDelivering intensive, high-dosage tutoring to small groups (usually 3 6 students) focusing on specific skill deficits.Modifying complex grade-level curriculum into manageable parts without "watering down" the rigor.Using manipulatives, visual aids, and specialized software to help students move from concrete understanding to abstract mathematical reasoning.Collaboration and CoachingMeeting with general education math teachers to align intervention strategies with what is happening in the regular classroom.Participating in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) meetings to discuss student placement and behavioral or academic needs.Communicating with families about student progress and providing resources for at-home support.Curriculum DevelopmentIdentifying and adapting research-based intervention programs (such as "Math 180" or "IXL") to fit individual student needs.Ensuring that "gap-filling" lessons eventually lead the student back toward success in their core Algebra or Geometry courses.Additional DutiesPerforms other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility.EquipmentUse standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.Travel RequirementsTravels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.Work ScheduleStandard teacher work schedule as set forth in the Teachers' Unit Contract.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.Knowledge of mathematics education curriculum and concepts.Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.Ability to organize and coordinate work.Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.Physical and Mental Demands, Work HazardsWork in standard office and school building environments.Certification/License:5-12 Mathematics LicenseEducation:Bachelor's from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.Masters Degree preferred.Experience:Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.Salary Range: $47,834-$76,719FLSA Status: Exempt
