Lead Software Systems Engineer
Overview:
You will lead the software architecture for Delta Faucet's digital and connected products, shaping cloud-enabled IoT experiences that make water usage smarter and more efficient. As a senior technical leader, you'll guide cross-functional teams from concept to launch and lifecycle support, prioritizing scalable, secure solutions. You'll influence product direction, drive modern cloud-native patterns, and ensure long-term maintainability. This role offers impact across smart home water experiences and product evolution. Responsibilities:
- Lead architecture, design, and implementation of cloud-based software systems powering connected IoT products
- Shape technical direction for new connected products, including solution design and lifecycle planning
- Define scalable, secure patterns across cloud, mobile, and devices
- Establish AI usage practices and documentation integration
- Partner with product, firmware, mobile, QA, DevOps, and external teams to deliver production-ready experiences
- Lead architecture for Azure-based connected platforms with modern cloud services and event-driven integration
- Design communication patterns among embedded devices, cloud services, and third-party ecosystems
- Guide backend and frontend development using cloud-native patterns, APIs, and event-driven architectures
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to improve engineering quality and delivery
- Support products from concept through launch and ongoing improvements
- Contribute to engineering standards, including architecture decisions and secure development practices
- Collaborate with DevOps on deployment, observability, reliability, and incident response
- Ensure solutions meet performance, security, compliance, and long-term value
- Drive continuous improvement from customer feedback and product learnings
Key requirements:
- 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with IoT-enabled solutions
- Experience with core IoT product capabilities including mobile and cloud apps, BLE, Wi-Fi, Thread, OTA, and data modeling
- Experience designing scalable, secure architectures across cloud, mobile, and device ecosystems
- Experience managing cloud performance, observability, scalability, and cost optimization
- Proven track record of leading continuous improvement from customer feedback
- Experience collaborating with embedded software/firmware teams
- Experience delivering consumer mobile apps with app store deployment
- Experience with smart home ecosystems (Apple, Google, Amazon, Samsung)
- Strong knowledge of Azure IoT Hub and/or AWS IoT services
- Experience designing IoT data models for features and analyticscross-functional collaborationtechnical leadershipproblem solving
