Job mission
This role will serve primarily as the receiving specialist while also holding a floater role with cross-functional responsibilities across multiple departments. The primary duties include managing all receiving operations, coordinating special project material logistics, handling material for production and shipping, and ensuring warehouse and yard organization. The receiving specialist will also provide backup support in inventory, quality control, and other operational roles, contributing to seamless daily operations.
Key responsibilities
Take full ownership of all incoming shipments including raw materials, specialty items, sample products, and RMA’s. Verify, document, and distribute incoming materials, and maintain accurate receiving records.
Manage and track all incoming materials used specially for custom projects. Communicate regularly with Purchasing to ensure materials are received and organized appropriately for each project.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse and outdoor yard space. Implement and follow 5S or equivalent organizational standards.
Transport materials to appropriate departments including CNC, waterjet, and hose areas. Ensure timely delivery of components for production and shipping.
Assist with inventory cycle counts and stock management on an as-needed basis, especially during high-volume or absence periods.
Aid in other operational functions as a support member to the primary operators of those departments
In this role, you are required to act according to the Piab Code of Conduct and know and follow the Piab values, mission and routines. This role acquire travel to both Piab and external parties’ global destinations when applicable.
Key interfaces
The Receiving Specialist and Operational Support reports to the Operations Manager. The receiving specialist works closely with the other members of Inventory, assembly and other departments central to the company as well as representatives of Piab Group.
Skills and abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Basic knowledge of inventory, shipping and receiving
Comfortable navigating various computer software
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations ERP system
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Self-motivated and driven to continuously improve
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Preferred competencies
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software (Excel skills preferred)
Experienced with ERP systems.
Quickly understands and analyses complex issues and problems; comes up with sound and rational judgements
Demonstrates specialist knowledge and expertise in own area; participates in continuous professional development
Communicates in a clear, precise, and structured way; speaks with authority and conviction; presents effectively
Co-operates well with others; shares knowledge, experience, and information; supports others in the pursuit of team goals
Experience and educational background
2+ years’ Experience in a material handling experience (preferred)
Experience with forklift operation (preferred)
Data/inventory management system experience
Experience in a manufacturing environment required
