Job SummaryBANGOR UNION ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT Bangor, California Classified Job Description/Recruitment TITLE: Custodian Classification: Classified, Permanent WORK YEAR: 12 Months/ Part-time; aprox. 5 hours per day/M-F/208 Duty Days SALARY: Classified Salary Schedule Range I PRIMARY FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Superintendent/Principal and the (MOT) Maintenance, Operations and Transportation Lead. The custodian employee is responsible for maintaining a safe, sanitary, and the general maintenance of custodial equipment, supplies and duties. BASIC DUTIES: To include but not limited to: Customer Service: Promote a positive school climate Ability to interact with staff members, students, parents and others in an open, friendly businesslike manner. Discretion in maintaining confidentiality Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with maintenance operation of school facilities to present school as clean, sanitized and attractive. Dusts and polishes walls, furniture, woodwork, and windowsills in all rooms 3. Sweeps, mop, scrub baseboards of linoleum, wood and tile floors. Vacuum/shampoo rugs. Polishes windows, doors and frames inside and out. Empty and cleans the waste receptacles in all rooms, and dispose of them in dumpster cans. 6. Maintains sink, water fountains, refills dispensers with appropriate soap, sanitizer and paper products. Cleans, scrubs and disinfects restroom related areas; wash windows, walls, tables and benches; polishes metal work, cleans sinks, mirrors and other bathroom fixtures. 8. Performs minor maintenance duties as requested/needed, including paint touchups. 9. Check individual classroom heater/air conditioner thermostatic controls for efficiency. Disinfect doorknobs, handles, and handrails. Participates in thorough cleaning and restoration of school facilities during vacation periods.
