Hospitality Management Internship ProgramPosition SummaryThe Hospitality Management Intern supports the operational, guest service, marketing, and event initiatives of Mountain Lake, a full-service mountain resort and hospitality destination located in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience and leadership exposure within a destination resort environment.Interns will work closely with resort leadership and department managers while gaining real-world experience across resort operations, weddings and events, sales and catering, guest experiences, recreation, and marketing. The program is intended for students seeking practical hospitality experience and professional development within the tourism and resort industry.Resort Operations & Guest Experience· Assist with daily resort operations and guest service initiatives.· Support Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Recreation, and Guest Experience departments.· Participate in guest engagement activities and resort programming.· Observe and support operational leadership practices across departments.· Assist with maintaining service standards and guest satisfaction initiatives.Weddings, Events & Catering· Assist with weddings, festivals, retreats, and special events.· Support banquet setup, event execution, and guest interaction.· Observe banquet event order (BEO) planning and coordination processes.· Assist resort leadership with event logistics and operational preparation.Marketing & Social Media· Assist with social media content creation and guest engagement initiatives.· Support marketing campaigns, promotions, and resort storytelling efforts.· Participate in photography, video, and event promotion opportunities.· Assist with maintaining the resort's online presence and branding initiatives.Leadership Development· Work closely with the General Manager and Assistant General Manager.· Attend operational meetings and leadership discussions as assigned.· Gain exposure to hospitality leadership and resort management practices.· Assist with special projects and operational initiatives.· Develop professional communication and hospitality leadership skills.Qualifications· Currently enrolled in Hospitality Management, Tourism, Marketing, Business, or related field preferred.· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.· Professional appearance and positive attitude.· Ability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings.· Interest in hospitality, tourism, events, marketing, and resort operations.· Self-motivated with willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.Core Competencies· Guest-focused hospitality mindset· Professional communication· Leadership development· Creativity and initiative· Organizational and teamwork skills· Adaptability and professionalismWork EnvironmentWork is performed throughout a full-service mountain resort environment including indoor and outdoor operational areas.
