Position Type: Extracurricular/Coach Date Posted: 5/18/2026 Location: Mannheim Middle School Date Available: 09/01/2026 Closing Date: Until Filled Job Description: Swim Team Coach - Elementary Do not apply via Frontline - please use theInternal Application Form Position Summary/Purpose: The Swim Team Coach - Elementary provides direct leadership, supervision, and instruction to elementary student-athletes participating in the Mannheim swim program. This coach supports and collaborates with the Head Swim Coach to develop swimmers' skills, foster sportsmanship, and ensure a safe, structured, and engaging environment for younger team members. Position: Swim Team Coach - Elementary Season: September - Mid February (with potential practices through March for Regionals/State) Tryouts: August (Parent Meeting) First Practice: Early September Playoffs/End of Season: February/March Supervisor: Building Principal Pay/Stipend: This position pays according to the rates outlined in the CBA Qualifications:Active membership with Illinois/USA SwimmingMust pass a background checkCertifications required: Foundations of Coaching 101 & 102, Concussion Protocol Training (D83 & USA Swimming), Safety Training for Swim Coaches, American Red Cross CPR/AED Certificate, USA Swimming Criminal Background Check, USA Swimming Athlete Protection Certificate, USADA Coach's Advantage Certificate Preferred Skills:Lifeguard certificationExperience in competitive swimming and/or coachingExperience working with younger athletes Strategic Alignment: This position supports activities aligned with the District Strategic Plan, notably Goal 1 for ensuring all students strive to grow and achieve their full potential, Goal 2 for fostering an environment of growth and well-being, and Goal 3 for expanding family and community partnerships. Performance Standards:Conducts developmentally appropriate, safe practices for elementary swimmersPromotes positive team behavior, confidence, and engagementMaintains supportive relationships with younger students and their familiesCoordinates with the Head Coach and Athletic Coordinator to align program goals and expectationsSubmits required documentation including attendance records and end-of-season verificationMay have stipend reduced for extended absences or if a substitute coach is required Time Commitment:Practices generally follow the team schedule with age-appropriate modifications as coordinated with the Head CoachAttendance at meets and events as scheduled, including support roles during travel Responsibilities:Submit a calendar of practice and event commitments to the Principal and Head Coach before the start of the season.Plan and deliver practices that support skill development and swimmer growth.Provide supervision and support at all assigned practices and meets.Ensure safety and supervision of students during drop-off, pick-up, and transportation.Maintain accurate student attendance records and submit them monthly.Communicate effectively with families and staff.Model and teach proper swim techniques and water safety.Collaborate closely with the Head Swim Coach and other team staff to support all team operations.Submit all necessary documentation for stipend processing at the conclusion of the season.
