ResponsibilitiesAfter receiving market-level plans, customer capacity requirements, and internal transport requirements, the transport engineer is responsible for the timely creation of individual Capacity Creation Requests (CCRs) to initiate US domestic network transport builds across both ULH and OTN Mesh networks to support strategic LD site decommissioning efforts.Engineer and manage the removal of obsolete equipment from the ULH network.Applicant must have detailed knowledge of SONET and Long-Distance ULH transport systems.Applicant must have a good understanding of the transport network to effectively engineer and initiate network projects under the Zero-Fill program and Decom program.Applicant needs to have an understanding of dependencies such as space, power, fiber, and diversity and how they will affect their planned projects.Responsible for identifying and working with the appropriate stakeholders to resolve issues and eliminate performance roadblocks.Participate in regular team meetings and conference calls on the projects they are responsible for.Must have Nokia (formerly Infinera) LD transport equipment experience.Must have working experience with Nokia (formerly Infinera) DNA (Digital Network Administrator).Must Have Skills (Most Important)Experience in the telecommunications industry.MUST HAVE - Working experience/knowledge with Nokia (formerly Infinera) DNA (Digital Network Administrator).MUST HAVE - Working experience/knowledge with Nokia (formerly Infinera) LD ULH transport equipment.Technical knowledge of long distance, ultra-long haul, and OTN mesh networks.Equipment Knowledge specific to Sonet/SDH, ULH, OTN mesh, and WDM transport.Vendor Specific Knowledge: Ciena, Infinera, Fujitsu, and varied long haul networks.System Knowledge: BGW, CoFEE(Canvas), Nautilus, ICON, CCP, Venue.Experience managing complex processes and driving results.Experience with windows-based programs and corporate database systems.Desired SkillsStrong understanding of engineering specs and drawings.Knowledge and experience with both equipment inventory and design.Strong working knowledge of the legacy network operating systems.Ability to assess, identify, and mitigate risks that could impact the business or project.Enjoy analyzing problems with autonomy to select and implement the right solutions.Work well independently; but also a team player able to ensure best outcomes.Manage assignments & competing priorities, staying focused on important deadlines.
