Sr. Equipment Accountant

OverviewThe Senior Equipment Accountant supports financial operations of the equipment division by ensuring accurate cost accounting, financial reporting, and compliance with company policies and GAAP. This role partners closely with the Equipment Operations team and project managers to provide insight into costs, variances, and profitability.ResponsibilitiesManages contracts, amendments, insurance, bonds, SOV, Files, and Co PoliciesConducts timely and accurate reviews of requisitions and lien waiversSets up and properly formats project financial forecasts to meet both the internal team and client reporting needsManages monthly project forecast meetings and maintains accurate ETCs for labor and expensesEvaluates change management for reporting inconsistenciesEnsures timely management of accounts receivable and payablesManages the project financial closeout processMaintain fixed asset ledgers, depreciation schedules, and capital project trackingManaging tax reporting for equipmentLaision between Equipment ManagersUse formulas, pivot tables and macros to manage and report data accordinglyAssist with accounting research and prepare support for journal entries to ensure our financial statements are accurate and completeEvaluate business process flows for significant accounts, identifying the IT systems, reports used, relevant risks, and key internal controls, from initiation to recording of transactionsDevelops and maintains positive professional relationships both internally and externallyCoaches and mentors less experienced team membersReviews and understands cost proposalsUnderstands and manages various contract types and delivery methodsAssists the Accounting Manager or Business Controller with monthly Work in Process (WIP) processStretches assignments as needed by the business such as overseeing one accountantActs as an Independent Accountant during project forecast meetings to mitigate financial riskSupports a positive and inclusive work environmentQualificationsEXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferredGenerally 3-7+ years of accounting experience in construction, manufacturing, or dealership environmentsOr equivalent combination of education and experienceKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESExperience with job costing or product based manufacturingStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Excel and WordAbility to learn construction management and payment management softwareKnowledge of the overall project execution process including budgeting, project forecasting, cost control, schedule, anticipated cost, and project profitabilityKnowledge of construction industry insurance products and construction pricing componentsAbility to communicate effectively, listens to understand, and can clearly convey information in all forms based on the audience to ensure shared meaning of the messageActs inclusively by ensuring that actions and behaviors are respectful, shows empathy and treats others with dignity; leverages capabilities and insights of individuals with diverse perspectives, abilities, and motivationAbility to solve problems by identifying, prioritizing, and implementing alternatives for a solutionDemonstrates agility and adaptability by maintaining effectiveness and adjusting to change, exploring the rationale, trying new approaches, and collaborating with others to make the change successfulAbility to show passion and commitment while delivering on business outcomes; ability to create a sense of individual ownership and accountabilityAbility to identify opportunities for new and improved ways of doing things that result in value added, unique, and differentiated solutionsSalary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.This ranges from $85,000.00-$150,000.00 pending geographical location plus benefits and retirement program.Gilbane offers an excellent total compensation package which includes competitive health and welfare benefits and a generous profit-sharing/401k plan.
