Utilities Field Technician

Job DescriptionUnder immediate supervision the Utility Field Technician performs general maintenance, repair and troubleshooting on the pressure reducing / pressure sustaining infrastructure, Motor Control Centers (MCC) and SCADA systems for the potable water treatment / potable water distribution system and wastewater facilities owned and operated by the Lanai Water Company.Compensation:$75,000 - $85,000/year (Exempt)Reporting Relationship:Reports to: Utilities SuperintendentSupervises: n/aQuality Standards:Conduct individual and business affairs in highest ethical and legal fashion.Establish and contribute to a supportive, creative, enthusiastic, and cooperative working environment for all.Build strong communication links with supervisors, peers, and employees.Continuously strive for excellence in the workplace, the Company environment, and as a Company representative.Comply with all Company policies and standards.Conducts business in alignment with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Pūlama Lāna'i.ResponsibilitiesEssential DutiesInstall, configure and maintain field instrumentation, control devices and communication systems.Troubleshoot and repair issues with SCADA, RTUs and PLCs, telemetry and communication networks, with assistance of current SCADA contractorUnder direction, makes daily adjustments to system operations as needed based on system needs.Performs monthly checks on all infrastructure pressure reducing, pressure sustaining, tank control valves. Records information and discusses results with superintendent.Rebuild pressure reducing valve and replace valve controls as needed.Maintain an inventory of replacement parts and valves for emergencies.Maintain detailed and accurate records of system maintenance and infrastructure projects.Has the ability to think and make independent decisions.Provide input on design changes, upgrades, and collaborate with engineers and construction personnel on new install projectsClean and monitor pump stations and related equipment.Has the ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.Respond to alarms / call outs as required.Be familiar with the rules, regulations, and policies of the LWC and State DOH.Performs work with due regard to safety of self and fellow employees, and with proper care and protection of company property.Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsQualification/Requirements:Poses a current driver's license.Obtain a Distribution System Operator grade 2 license within two years after the date of employment.Obtain a Water Treatment grade 1 license within three years after the date of employment.Working knowledge of SCADA, PLCs and telemetry systems.Associate / Technical degree in electronics, instrumentation or related field.Five years of verifiable experience in the electrical / control field.Required Work Cards/Certifications:Valid Hawaii Driver's License and successful review of Motor Vehicle RecordPhysical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands, to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision and color vision.Work is regularly performed outside or inside remote buildings.Work may include working in confined spaces.
